Comets

Comets will be called on by Sol and Lune only when they need someone eliminated. Murders must not be made outside of their knowledge and the Comets will not be able to refuse an assignment. Sometimes Comets may be asked to work together, but often times they will have to act alone. However, both Comets must be in attendance when the Signs have an assignment.

When the Signs seek to summon Comets, a portal will appear when a Comet finds themselves alone. Upon entering the portal, they will be brought into a tea room where the Signs are waiting for them. When their visit in the room concludes and they choose to exit, the portal will disappear. Comets will find that no matter how long they spent in the tea Room, no time has elapsed outside of the portal.

Outside of Sign-requested kills, Comets may participate in the game as normal including fulfilling their objectives and using their gifts.

Comets will be able to kill without being put on trial so long as it is a Sign-ordered kill. Any kills Comets make outside of a request are eligible for trial.

What does this mean? This means that Comets will be able to kill without leaving behind any incriminating evidence, and if they are voted for in-trial during a week in which they kill they will not be executed. However, they will become more vulnerable in the following week and be on the list of victims for the following week.

Comets will also be able to receive access to additional tools for murders should Sol and Lune see fit.

Additional notes:
The Comets will be allowed to ask questions about the ongoings of the game and communicate with the Signs in their weekly meetings. They will be able to also receive small hints in the game should they perform well, including game mechanics, locations and more. However, the information received will be up to Sol and Lune's discretion.

WEEK 0

[cyclists]

[On Monday of Week 0, both Comets will find themselves drawn into a portal that brings them into the tea room. On the long, low black table in the center of the room, they'll find two scrolls containing a summary of the basic information above.

When they look up, Sol and Lune will be present and available for questions.]

SOL

[cyclists]

[forefall]

[ Four's face becomes blanker and paler the more she reads, and her hands clutch the scroll tighter and tighter. When she looks up, her face is twisted into a grimace. ]

What does this mean by a trial?

[cyclists]

[Sol is going to wander a little closer to look at the scroll again.]

...that's...one of the things we're trying to figure out, too. [Hm. Yikes.]

[forefall]

[ WHY DON'T OUR NPCS KNOW...... ]

You don't know either?

[ EXTRA YIKES because Four's hands begin to shake a little. Double yikes. ]

Then, is this the universe's choice, too? For us to be in this role?

[cyclists]

[A shake of the head.] When Lune and I got these instructions, we spent a while trying to understand them ourselves. No luck so far.

[But...here there's a bit of regret.] I'm sorry, but picking you for this particular role was our choice. Lune picked one of you, I picked the other.

[forefall]

How... why...?

[ Her breathing becomes a bit more shallow. ]

For what reason did you pick us?

[cyclists]

[...] You would have to ask Lune specifically why you were chosen. Both of you though...we felt that you would be the ones who could work with us to understand what the purpose of this role is.

We had to pick someone.

[stillstands]

[ Miki's reaction to what she's reading on the scroll isn't any better. She stays very quiet as she reads, before snapping her attention directly at whoever is closest - sorry, Sol - as soon as she's done. ]

Eliminate?

I thought you needed us here, why would we have to eliminate anyone??

[cyclists]

We don't know yet. [And if Sol sounds equally unhappy it's because they are. Also Sol's grown used to everyone asking questions and getting mad it's fine.] The scrolls appeared last night, we didn't...this wasn't part of it when we spoke with you yesterday. Lune and I aren't any happier than you guys are.

[stillstands]

[ oh. that's concerning. ]

I thought you two were supposed to be in charge of us here. You don't even have control over what happens to us, or what happens here?

[cyclists]

We were only brought here a few weeks before you were. We're...we have access to places you don't, and we can ask questions there, but we're still learning the ways of the universe, too.

[stillstands]

[ Only a few weeks ago--?? ]

So they're laying the responsibility of balancing out a world on the shoulders of a bunch of mostly-strangers that might end up eliminated for some reason or not, and two shady people who don't know half of what's going on?

[ ??? This wasn't amazing to be with and now it's just worse. ]

[cyclists]

Shady? [Like. Yes, Sol, you're shady as hell.] There's gotta be something we just don't see yet. We're working on it.

LUNE

[cyclists]

[forefall]

[ Four is noticeably unhappy. ]

I didn't think our conversation over tea would be like this. Is it salvation through death?

[cyclists]

[yea makes sense]

Would you like me to prepare a cup? I believe it might prove calming.

[that said...]

That is uncertain at this time - I apologize. However you might notice that the young one and I have given you no assignment this week.

We are just as displeased with this development as you are.

[forefall]

But that doesn't mean no assignment would be given ever. I'm not—

[ She's not never murdered before. She's killed in ways she thinks are justified, but that was for her sister. For all her sisters. These are strangers. ]

If you're unhappy and I am unhappy, what can we do from here?

[ She doesn't know if she wants tea. ]

[cyclists]

See if there is a reason, and then determine if that reason is worth executing the order in this manner.

[lune speaks evenly and calmly. they will begin to prepare tea - but slowly. most of their attention remains on four.]

Senseless slaughter is not what I have agreed to be oversee.

[forefall]

I never want to kill for no apparent reason.

[ Her voice is somehow trembling but emphatic at the same time. She's got issues. ]

I— what have you agreed to?

[stillstands]

[ Let's not beat around the bush here. ]

If you brought us all here to die, why even bother waiting this long. You should've just had us all killed when we got here.

You could've just left me where I was, if that was what you wanted.

[ She's not sitting down for tea, that's for sure. ]

[cyclists]

I do not wish to see any of you harmed.

[calmly, but with a serious tone - compared to how lune had been speaking about other subjects, at least]

If it is possible for this entire time to pass without providing either of you with a single assignment, I would consider it a victory.

These were the instructions we were given - but I do not intend to follow them blindly.

[stillstands]

[ "I don't believe you" is written all over her face. ]

If that were the case, you wouldn't be here telling me about this role in the first place.

The fact it exists at all means someone thinks it's needed.

[cyclists]

[it's cool, lune knows words aren't worth much]

That is correct.

It is abstract, and difficult to believe, but the gist is that the universe has....

[trailing off]

It would be too generous to call it a plan. But perhaps the nearest sentiment is that everything is intended to happen for a reason.

The young one and I do not know the reason for why we have been given these scrolls and directives, but we have. At least for now, the information is harmless.

[stillstands]

... So, what? A vague whim?

[ She sighs, and rubs her hand through her hair, clenching it in the strands for a moment. ]

Maybe it sounds harmless to you, but to me it feels more like an axe over our heads. It exists, so it's a threat over our heads. Just because it's not being used now doesn't mean it won't be.
