Comets

Comets will be called on by Sol and Lune only when they need someone eliminated. Murders must not be made outside of their knowledge and the Comets will not be able to refuse an assignment. Sometimes Comets may be asked to work together, but often times they will have to act alone. However, both Comets must be in attendance when the Signs have an assignment.

When the Signs seek to summon Comets, a portal will appear when a Comet finds themselves alone. Upon entering the portal, they will be brought into a tea room where the Signs are waiting for them. When their visit in the room concludes and they choose to exit, the portal will disappear. Comets will find that no matter how long they spent in the tea Room, no time has elapsed outside of the portal.

Outside of Sign-requested kills, Comets may participate in the game as normal including fulfilling their objectives and using their gifts.

Comets will be able to kill without being put on trial so long as it is a Sign-ordered kill. Any kills Comets make outside of a request are eligible for trial.

What does this mean? This means that Comets will be able to kill without leaving behind any incriminating evidence, and if they are voted for in-trial during a week in which they kill they will not be executed. However, they will become more vulnerable in the following week and be on the list of victims for the following week.

Comets will also be able to receive access to additional tools for murders should Sol and Lune see fit.

Additional notes:
The Comets will be allowed to ask questions about the ongoings of the game and communicate with the Signs in their weekly meetings. They will be able to also receive small hints in the game should they perform well, including game mechanics, locations and more. However, the information received will be up to Sol and Lune's discretion.

[ Four is noticeably unhappy. ]

I didn't think our conversation over tea would be like this. Is it salvation through death?

[yea makes sense]

Would you like me to prepare a cup? I believe it might prove calming.

That is uncertain at this time - I apologize. However you might notice that the young one and I have given you no assignment this week.

We are just as displeased with this development as you are.

[forefall]

But that doesn't mean no assignment would be given ever. I'm not—

[ She's not never murdered before. She's killed in ways she thinks are justified, but that was for her sister. For all her sisters. These are strangers. ]

If you're unhappy and I am unhappy, what can we do from here?

[ She doesn't know if she wants tea. ]

[cyclists]

See if there is a reason, and then determine if that reason is worth executing the order in this manner.

[lune speaks evenly and calmly. they will begin to prepare tea - but slowly. most of their attention remains on four.]

Senseless slaughter is not what I have agreed to be oversee.

[forefall]

I never want to kill for no apparent reason.

[ Her voice is somehow trembling but emphatic at the same time. She's got issues. ]

I— what have you agreed to?

[cyclists]

Neither do I - to be wielded without any will of your own... [there is a pause in lune's actions] You are not a weapon.

As for myself...

I have agreed to oversee a situation that would determine the safety of the universe - this world and others beyond it.

[forefall]

... All right.

[ She says that, but she doesn't look like it's all right. Will they really be afforded a will of their own? ]

Why was I chosen?

[cyclists]

[ah - lune's voice softens]

Are you displeased with me for choosing you?

[forefall]

No. I don't know. I won't know unless I know why.

[ Being chosen is something Four usually likes. It means she's been noticed for something, and she's only ever wanted to be noticed and appreciated, but it's what she's being noticed for that matters, too.

How much do these people know? ]

[cyclists]

From what I have seen....

You are someone who is able to care for others, as well as yourself. You have your own will, and can speak up when you disagree, but are not so rash as to immediately discount what other parties are saying in a discussion.

You possess grace, balance, and determination.

I chose you because if I am to place another's life in someone's hands, you are the one I trust with it.

[they place a hand over their chest]

Heavy burden though it may be, I hope you will grant me your help.

[forefall]

[ Four's eyes widen. It's how she's always wanted to be seen, how she's wanted to be acknowledged, how she's wanted to be appreciated— and it hits her harder than the force of gravity. To be trusted... to be depended on... to be asked for help....

She chokes on whatever words she was about to say, biting her lip, and tears collect in her eyes. For all that she tries to seem older than she is, she's still only a teenage girl in mind and heart. Her hands fly to her face, and her shoulders shake.

She's no where near as put together as she wants to be, but she nods through her quiet hiccups. ]

[cyclists]

[oh dear.

lune will raise from where they are seated on the opposite of the table, and will instead move to four's side. a hand, steady and gentle, will come up to gently rest atop her head.

then, full of fondness and warmth:]

Thank you.

[stillstands]

[ Let's not beat around the bush here. ]

If you brought us all here to die, why even bother waiting this long. You should've just had us all killed when we got here.

You could've just left me where I was, if that was what you wanted.

[ She's not sitting down for tea, that's for sure. ]

[cyclists]

I do not wish to see any of you harmed.

[calmly, but with a serious tone - compared to how lune had been speaking about other subjects, at least]

If it is possible for this entire time to pass without providing either of you with a single assignment, I would consider it a victory.

These were the instructions we were given - but I do not intend to follow them blindly.

[stillstands]

[ "I don't believe you" is written all over her face. ]

If that were the case, you wouldn't be here telling me about this role in the first place.

The fact it exists at all means someone thinks it's needed.

[cyclists]

[it's cool, lune knows words aren't worth much]

That is correct.

It is abstract, and difficult to believe, but the gist is that the universe has....

[trailing off]

It would be too generous to call it a plan. But perhaps the nearest sentiment is that everything is intended to happen for a reason.

The young one and I do not know the reason for why we have been given these scrolls and directives, but we have. At least for now, the information is harmless.

[stillstands]

... So, what? A vague whim?

[ She sighs, and rubs her hand through her hair, clenching it in the strands for a moment. ]

Maybe it sounds harmless to you, but to me it feels more like an axe over our heads. It exists, so it's a threat over our heads. Just because it's not being used now doesn't mean it won't be.

[cyclists]

Would you like to contemplate the intentions of the universe? It may take time, but if it would help, then I am willing.

[it could be like a thought exercise?]

Mm - would you rather that we did not inform you until there was suddenly a moment in which an assignment was needed?

Or would you rather be aware of the criteria in which I might consider a death to be unavoidable? You do not have to listen, if you do not wish for it.

However, I would like to hear what you have to say as well.

Would it help? Or would it just be too big and overwhelming for my comprehension?

[ Mmmm don't be sour. ]

I think I'd rather know what would prompt them to call on us. At least that way, we might be able to try and avoid or, or persuade the others to avoid it.

[cyclists]

I do not know - but perhaps speaking through it will at least allow some of the thoughts to exit your mind.

[gotta keep from overcrowding? it just seems stressful.]

Mm, you are correct.

As far as I'm concerned, the only reason to call for the death of another... is if they will bring unavoidable destruction and harm to a great number of people.

[stillstands]

Are there any people in the group that fit that description?

If there are, I would deeply question why they were brought here.

However, at times, others may be pushed to that extent.

[stillstands]

Desperation driving people to extremes?

[ That's... not out of the question, at all. ]

And whoever decided all this is sure enough that someone could do this. Otherwise we wouldn't be here.

It is a distinct possibility. It is a responsibility for Sol and I to assign possible... complications to you to handle, however we are not going to use that fact lightly.

However since we are able to see more than either of you, we are in a better position to be watchful.
