I think so. Maybe not in the way that they would stop functioning all together, but there are people I think who would take the easy way out instead. But it's okay. I get it.

Not all of them, but most of them. I've been studying people for a while now. [There's a light grin.] This is still the biggest group I've ever had to work with, but it's easier to see how some people feel about others by watching you guys talk to each other.

I assume the interpersonal relationships in a place like this would be extremely messy.

They're constantly changing. Just when you think you understand one relationship, something happens and people's feelings change all over again. It gets exhausting trying to keep up.

Things like emotions are really tricky that way, aren't they? It takes a lot to understand them...

[A slow nod.] People like us are born without really knowing how emotions work or what to do with them, so a lot of us are still learning. There are some things I don't know if I'll ever understand, but it's getting better.

... admittedly I'm not as dedicated to understanding human emotions as Mikazuki is.

...painful, I think. [It's just a thought.] When you know stuff like that, it means understanding people and understanding people's hurt, too. And for people who care too much, that's probably difficult.
