You're more bound to your duty than most people, I think. Some of us have a little more difficulty giving up what we've grown used to. [There's a wry grin.] But in the end, the people here will pick the best option to make up for those who resist. That's all that matters to me.
[He blinks in surprise because that wasn't exactly the response he was expecting...but he grins and immediately looks a little embarrassed. Thanks for that.]
Guess I've learned something after all. But it's true.
Not all of them, but most of them. I've been studying people for a while now. [There's a light grin.] This is still the biggest group I've ever had to work with, but it's easier to see how some people feel about others by watching you guys talk to each other.
They're constantly changing. Just when you think you understand one relationship, something happens and people's feelings change all over again. It gets exhausting trying to keep up.
[A slow nod.] People like us are born without really knowing how emotions work or what to do with them, so a lot of us are still learning. There are some things I don't know if I'll ever understand, but it's getting better.
...painful, I think. [It's just a thought.] When you know stuff like that, it means understanding people and understanding people's hurt, too. And for people who care too much, that's probably difficult.
I'd rather learn than not. It's the only way to ever understand anything that's going on anymore anyway, even if it means finding things I can't fix. But in a way it's nice to know.
[It helps that Tsuru and Mikazuki are also both adapting as they go.]
[ wow.... he is so fond of roxas. what a good boy. ]
... and honestly, I think sometimes this perspective makes you understands thing in a way that someone who grew up normally with these things wouldn't notice.
You think so? [That's a relief because Roxas spends most of his time internally screaming about not knowing what's going on.] Maybe because effort has to go into understanding. [Hmmm...] Or humans take it for granted. But there are some that I've learned from, too, that understand the heart better than most people.
[...Sora's an idiot, but Roxas has learned a lot from him.]
[He raises an eyebrow at that.] Out of choice? Or out of necessity? We weren't really allowed to be seen on our missions either when we were on different worlds.
The History Revisionists' goal is to change history by disrupting key events that shaped Japan. It's usually fairly straightforward-- they try to make an important figure die early, or live past the event that killed them, or something along those lines.
Every now and then their plan on how to act changes slightly. When that happens, they're a little more difficult to predict. We need to be careful of our movements so that we're not accidentally helping them.
[...yikes.] That sounds really complicated because it means knowing how someone's going to behave in any sort of situation. Plus there's usually a lot of you on those missions, right? You don't act alone.
[...] What would happen if something did change the events you were trying to stop? Would the entire world fall?
It thankfully hasn't happened yet. But let's say, there's a very powerful warrior who is known to have died in battle, and their death completely changed the direction an entire nation could have progressed to. If the Revisionists allowed them to live instead, Japan will be a different place.

... we can't allow major disruptions in time. Sometimes small things get changed, because it's more or less expected when you said a group of people there. But if history is changed too much it'll hurt time.
