As The Crescent:
Every Monday, the Crescent will meet with the Signs and be given the opportunity to grant one other player immunity for the week. This immunity will allow the player to live for that week even if they are chosen as a victim by the Corrupted.

Should the Crescent choose to protect someone and that person is selected as a victim, however, the Crescent's name will be provided as the victim and they will die in that week to protect the chosen player.

The Crescent will also be allowed to submit a name for a victim in order to protect someone else. If they are concerned that someone they wish to protect will be chosen by the Corrupted, they may enact a trade to sacrifice another player. While there is no guarantee that the name they've offered will be chosen, this action will earn favor among the Signs.

The choice must be made at the time of the meeting. The Crescent only gets one meeting per week and they must choose wisely if they wish to protect someone and risk their own life, or offer someone as a failsafe sacrifice. (i.e. "I would like to protect X" versus "should X be chosen by the Corrupted, I would like to substitute Y.")

When the Signs seek to summon the Crescent, a portal will appear when they finds themselves alone. Upon entering the portal, they will be brought into a tea room where the Signs are waiting for them. When their visit in the room concludes and they choose to exit, the portal will disappear. The Crescent will find that no matter how long they spent in the tea Room, no time has elapsed outside of the portal.

Additional notes:
The Crescent will be allowed to ask questions about the ongoings of the game and communicate with the Signs in their weekly meetings. They will be able to also receive small hints in the game should they perform well, including game mechanics, locations and more. However, the information received will be up to the Signs' discretion.

I don't think that's such a bad idea. Protecting someone who's still growing can help. [They won't discourage that. But there is a pause.]

...let's just say I'm probably younger than most people think.

Considering the outcry with regards to Mary's age, I think it's wise to keep an eye on the younger members of our group.

[There's a gleam of interest in her eyes, at Sol's words.]

Oh?

A few months, perhaps? A year?

I hope you're right. It's like I said before, some of you can take care of yourselves but others can't. A lot of you guys are the same age, too...but if someone's looking after them they stand a chance.

[Hm. They just. Shrug.] Not quite that young...why do you ask anyway?

You are perfectly correct. Some people are able to guard themselves—and those people should do what they can to assist those who cannot.

If I am to focus on protecting the young, would that not include yourself? [She smiles, inclining her chin towards Sol.] Although you serve as one of our hosts, I don't imagine you to be completely immune from danger.

[cyclists]

[...like. She has a point, but the response is a quiet laugh.]

I can take care of myself just fine, Milla. I've had a lot of practice.

What of yourself? Do you have any thoughts on the gateway you discovered, and what is contained within?

[cyclists]

The gateway...it felt like a place where a lot of people were hurt once. It makes sense why we were able to sense corruption there. But when we looked, everyone was gone.

Are there meant to be people there?

Are they being contained elsewhere?

[cyclists]

I don't think it's that they're contained. It might be a world that's frozen in time just like this place and like your own homes. We haven't had a chance to really check, but it's small. It's just that one facility.

Hello again.

Anything interesting to report? This odd gateway certainly seems to have a lot going on—tapping coffins and locked doors, to start with.

[And did she have any success trying to break open those doors? No. But is she apologizing for that? Also no.]

That would be rather interesting, I believe.

We are looking to find the specific point of corruption that lurks within the area. It is nice to be able to make strides forward.

A specific point? [Hmm.]

I have a few theories. It would be nice to be able to stop it before it strikes one of our number.

You and I are in agreement on that matter.

What is on your mind?

The locked rooms. The lack of people. The inaccessible tapping. And then, even what we can see leaves an inexplicable trace of some terrible ongoing incidents gone unabated.

I suppose what I am trying to say is that it may not even be a single source—rather, a collective amalgam of the area at large.

[cyclists]

I don't believe that's incorrect - there may be a greater manifestation of darkness in the area that's affecting everything within a certain radius.

At the very least, that is how darkness would occasionally appear in my experience.

[tothemaxwell]

[Her brow furrows in thought, and mild irritation.]

Then our only solution may be a purification of an entire area.

[She exhales through her nose, frowning.]

If we could sever the spirit of a location... [WHAT]

Oh?

A spirit belonging to the location?

There is a belief amongst some that all items have their own "soul", so to speak.

Of course, in my own world, that is simply not true. Spirits exist separately to physical things, and merely power them in exchange for mana and command lines from humans.

But the concept remains, nonetheless. The idea of a "place" or "thing" having its own independent identity.

I wonder if, metaphorically, a whole area could be cleansed.

It is just a theory, of course, but I see no harm with brainstorming the impossible, at the moment.

Certainly there is no harm in the matter - we shall have to proceed with that in mind. If there is another spirit, I wonder if you and I will be able to negotiate with them in order to initiate a cleansing..
