CYOA - WEEK THREE
WAKE THE GREAT SPIRIT
Without warning, sometime in the middle of the day of your Tuesday, you'll find yourself beckoned to the gateway. The cave that sits at the edge of the city beckons you, drawing you closer and closer until you find yourself entering it. The darkness envelops you and you know nothing but that you must walk one step in front of the other, one step in front of the other, one step -
Until you blink and there is suddenly stone beneath your feet, ruins in front of your eyes.

Thankfully, you aren't alone. There are five others with you as light filters from above, as though you're on the very floor of the ocean. Schools of fish might swim overhead, implying that you may be underwater but you don't feel the heaviness of the pressure at all.
A small cacophony of noises will arise as six floating orbs rest in the distance, flickering with light. There seems to be chatter there, but it'll take some adventuring closer in order to determine exactly what they might be.
Though the longer you wait, you may feel a rumble beneath your feet, like an earthquake.
And then the curious whirring of... mechanical gears?
... In truth, you might not want to linger here that long.

In this CYOA, characters have been set on a path in order to fight the corruption that lingers within the ruins of the lost continent of Mu. They'll be guided along as they get through the plants that have been corrupted along with a few former inhabitants of the gateway that is within. They'll be separated before congregating to face one final challenge together, and then hopefully be unceremoniously dumped back in the mingle after disappearing. They should ICly be gone for approximately six hours beginning on the afternoon of Tuesday.

It takes strength in order to determine the course of the world - and strength of heart is often reflected in one's ability to communicate with spirits.
[Anyway yeah, it's a tournament.
It's not like the Iron Maiden will be able to grow arms to keep her from sliding out, though? So uhh, good luck! Except as they enter the less illuminated area, there may the occasional glimpse of fragmented memories that flicker at the corner of their eyes. Memories that Shess and Naminé don't want to acknowledge.
But at least Lucifer is being slowed down by their combined efforts.]

he glances back to make sure naminé won't actually fall out (because axel will kill him if that happens). too bad he can't ask if she wants him to slow down, because he can't talk without his tablet.
...
you know what shess is really tired of? memory bullshit! he already had one private breakdown here, thanks. on the bright side, it's not as if he's unused to things trying to psychologically screw with him, so he does his best to ignore the fragments and continue driving.]
no subject
but thankfully she is busy trying to scramble back into the car so that she won't die horribly by falling out of it. once she's settled, she goes back to firing. ]
Are we going the right way?
no subject
Regardless good for them figuring their stuff out, and they'll eventually be able to skid out of the poorly lit area.]
I believe so... Once Lucifer is felled, we should be able to return to the main route to the chambers.
There ought to be a hand grenade somewhere in the car... though I would only use it after we have the greater amount of distance between us.
[Fast and the Furious intensifies.]
no subject
We should switch then?
[naminé can hopefully handle driving for, like, a minute when the time comes??]
no subject
[ she is just going to
drop the machine gun out the window because honestly there's other guns in the car and it's going to be awkward to like switch properly if she's holding that thing ]
no subject
Anyway, have fun switching spots!
It looks like they're headed straight for one of those drops where a gap opens up, and the rest of the road is on the other side!
Might as well floor it, right?]
Please be careful.
[And that's all the Iron Maiden has to say about it, apparently.]
no subject
anyway that's naminé's job to deal with now as shess pulls down his hood and gets the hand grenade ready.]
1/3
anyway she is going to SLAM ON THAT GAS PEDAL ]
no subject
sorry ]
no subject
VROOM VROOM ]
no subject
Naminé slamming on that brake is honestly a little concerning consider the way that the car lurches fORWARD for a second before she actually slams the gas and then they have to pick up momentum AGAIN to hurtle themselves off the edge of this section.
It might be a bit closer of a landing than it would've been but it's fine.
Lucifer is following after still, extending one mechanic claw toward their Ferrari - best use the grenade sooner rather than later.]
no subject
using one hand to hold on and maintain his balance, he leans out to toss the grenade at lucifer.]
no subject
she really wants to look behind her to see if the grenade hits or not, but taking her eyes off the road sounds like a bad idea so naminé will just really hope that shess has some good aim. ]
no subject
The grenade hits Lucifer's extended claw - which actually makes the explosion almost a little too close for comfort. The sudden release of energy and the blast manages to push the Ferrari more decisively onto the other side of the gap, so there's that, but it's also loud, fiery, and there are pieces of shadowy ghost shrapnel hits the back of the car and might cut the memories duo up a little.
But the bulk of Lucifer's fallen angel gundam body will descend into the gap, shadowy wisps emanating from the steel and metal.
. . . . but while it takes a second, Michael the Ferrari will roar back to life and start to take the helm again, driving without needing to be directed.
Looks like they're headed back to the main path!]
... A-Are you both alright?
no subject
it's once things calm down, and michael resumes control of itself, that he shifts position and grabs his tablet.]
Seems so.
no subject
but thanks, she doesn't get hit that badly even if now she's concerned for shess?? ]
I'm okay... did we do it?
no subject
I believe so. Michael will guide us to the chambers of the Shaman King now... Someone very important to all of us has fallen into a slumber that we can't wake him from. It's a sleep that is different from death.
[Considering the fact that this is Shaman King and dying is genuinely no big deal here.]
no subject
anyway, this is giving shess garuda vibes, but he'll just wait to see what happens. he's probably bleeding right now but it's fine.]
no subject
[ allow her to fuss over you now, shess ]
no subject
From what I can tell, it's why each of you are here... The rest of the warriors who would normally come to the aid of this person aren't, so perhaps that's why you were brought in their stead.
You mentioned the darkness, correct...? I can't say that I understand but... I only have a sense that this is not how things are meant to be.
no subject
I'll be fine.
[...]
There were others with us who split up. Do you think we'll meet with them at the chambers?
[i mean he'd be fine if hisoka went and died on his path, but.]
no subject
[ naminé has no idea how emma is doing because honestly it's probably a feedback loop of confused yelling between their emotions. ]
no subject
[ . . . ]
Oh, forgive me. My name is Iron Maiden Jeanne. Thank you for coming to my assistance.
no subject
Yes, we don't really have the luxury of taking a day to go through this.
