CYOA - WEEK THREE

WAKE THE GREAT SPIRIT

Without warning, sometime in the middle of the day of your Tuesday, you'll find yourself beckoned to the gateway. The cave that sits at the edge of the city beckons you, drawing you closer and closer until you find yourself entering it. The darkness envelops you and you know nothing but that you must walk one step in front of the other, one step in front of the other, one step -

Until you blink and there is suddenly stone beneath your feet, ruins in front of your eyes.



Thankfully, you aren't alone. There are five others with you as light filters from above, as though you're on the very floor of the ocean. Schools of fish might swim overhead, implying that you may be underwater but you don't feel the heaviness of the pressure at all.

A small cacophony of noises will arise as six floating orbs rest in the distance, flickering with light. There seems to be chatter there, but it'll take some adventuring closer in order to determine exactly what they might be.

Though the longer you wait, you may feel a rumble beneath your feet, like an earthquake.

And then the curious whirring of... mechanical gears?

... In truth, you might not want to linger here that long.



In this CYOA, characters have been set on a path in order to fight the corruption that lingers within the ruins of the lost continent of Mu. They'll be guided along as they get through the plants that have been corrupted along with a few former inhabitants of the gateway that is within. They'll be separated before congregating to face one final challenge together, and then hopefully be unceremoniously dumped back in the mingle after disappearing. They should ICly be gone for approximately six hours beginning on the afternoon of Tuesday.

ARRIVAL

[The ruins are difficult to navigate and appear to be halfway to crumbling. Everything is cut into simple block shapes, and the only light is that provided from overhead - where the surface of the water must be. It's hard to say that this is how the bottom of the ocean floor must look, especially when it's coupled with the occasional rumble of something that lurks still underneath the structure that you find yourself standing on.

Still, there seems to be no way but forward. Gather yourselves, it seems like your journey to face the darkness is about to begin.]

SPIRIT GUARDIANS

[cyclists]

[Walking further along the path will bring you to a set of six different figures - each of them oddly shaped and looking a bit distressed.

A bandit. A jaguar. A koropokkur. A warlord. A fairy.

A samurai, who is apparently the only one who is capable of speech at the moment as they all turn to you - ]

Are you the warriors that have been sent to aid us? Come - we're running out of time. We must head toward the Great Spirit's chambers in order to wake Yoh-dono. One of us will accompany each of you in order to bring you further inside.

[Each character will be required to pick one spirit each!]

[Looking over at one of them in particular—]

...It's kind of cute.

[Even if she has no idea what's going on.]

[cyclists]

[The Beef looks over at Naminé before giving a single nod of his head. in a flash of light he disappears and his spirit appears to change forms into a a halberd for Naminé to take.

it'd be incredibly heavy for anyone else.

however it's not hard for her to wield at all.]

[cyclists]

[Kororo thinks you're cute too, Emma! she makes a chirping noise, offering up a smile, before she also disappears in a flash of light and appears in a different form

a snowboard.

eli being canonblind probably makes this funnier]

[ predictably, kara is eyeing the samurai as if wondering what era he's from. he has two swords like masamune. whomst. ]

[cyclists]

[actually he's sengoku era which is funny - but the samurai will just return the same appraising gaze to ookurikara, as if evaluating exactly the person that he's encountering. and then he nods his approval once - ]

I believe we can come to an understanding.

[and he'll adjust his appearance into being that of a smaller ball as a red stone manifests in ookurikara's hand.]

I'll remain in this form for the time being if you have questions - but if trouble arises, place my spirit in the stone.

[and then we'll see what happens, it'll be great]

GATES...

[cyclists]

[Once you each finish picking a ghost as your guide, there will be two options.

Two large gates, as tall as a tree, will suddenly be revealed from the shadows. They appear metal in structure and there will be difficulty in opening them by force. They will only open once two approach them, and there will be no chance to go back once chosen.

Which group will pick left? Which group will pick right?

The third option will be those who hesitate to pick a door, and find themselves still on the main path on the ruins.

Another rumble persists.]

[wrong animal family unless shess becomes one with his cat side but give him the jaguar, why not.]

[I'm technically last because Teej is working but.

Give him the bandit.]

[cyclists]

[the jaguar will paw up to shess before giving his hand an encouraging nudge! and then he'll similarly disappear as his form changes and

shess is now wearing an upgraded cat hat on top of his cat hat

watch the claws!]

[even tokageroh didn't want this, given the look he spares hisoka as he's approached but - it's alright, he'll switch forms anyway and that's how hisoka gets

[Emma (and Shirasu even though Teej is at work) are heading to the left!!]

[ kara is heading straight for the right door, with hisoka apparently ]

[and then suddenly shess and naminé found themselves left behind.]

PLANT OF THE VALLEY

[cyclists]

[Ookurikara will approach the door to the right with conviction - and he'll find that that is, certainly, the correct answer. It answers to his conviction, both doors suddenly swinging open in his direction as it to answer his metal. A gust of wind will buffet both him and Hisoka before it suddenly manages the reverse effect - sucking the two of them inside the doorway.

Where they'll find that to the left and right, there are two cliffsides.

And to the very front of them, and below - nothing.

Welcome to the Valley.

Think quick or you may very well be falling for a very, very long time.

Hisoka will find that his new sashimi knife is capable of cutting through virtually any material - but more than that, if he wishes to reach further than his hand can grasp, eight snake heads will reach out at his will. Ookurikara, if he chooses to put the samurai's spirit in the stone he was given, will summon a similar-looking weapon that'll allow him to slash past his reach.

.... no special thing that'll catch him though.

So here's hoping Hisoka has a heart.]

PLANT OF THE PLATEAU

[cyclists]

[In comparison, Emma and Shirasu's door is... calm? It's calm! It's nice and easy, gentle in its opening as they see a large expanse of a plain in front of them. The sky is blue, the birds are chirping, and it looks like they've got a walk ahead of them since it doesn't look like they have any other direction for where they ought to be going.

Have a stroll - certainly nothing menacing is waiting ahead.

Not even as you hear the roar of cheers in the distance, and maybe.... a whistle?

I'm sure it's fine.

Emma, lugging around the snowboard, will find herself with a mastery of ice, nudged along by the spirit that dwells inside. She'll be able to create all types of ice and snow, even zooming forward on her snowboard that she suddenly knows how to ride perfectly, isn't that convenient. Meanwhile Shirasu will be guided by the pendulum that draws him forward, the diamond pointing in the direction that they need to go - and he'll be able to manipulate the wire that the pendulum rests on as far as he'd like, making it as strong as steel and suspended in the air.

Anyway, better get going!]

something small and winged might be good for scouting a strange place, right? so shirasu gives the fairy an appraising look before offering a hand out, palm up.]

THE LOST CONTINENT OF MU

[cyclists]

[As for you stragglers.

An Iron Maiden drops out of the sky.

It's heavy, so maybe dodge? Or - catch it?

There's also an odd sound of tire wheels squealing.

Naminé and Shess will both find themselves with increased strength with the assistance of their spirits. Shess will also have enough speed that'll allow him to move at over 100 miles per hour as long as he runs like a jaguar, and Naminé, with concentration, will be able to manipulate lightning and call it forward at her will.]

[this is such a nice place?

shirasu does not trust it at all. he frowns thoughtfully as he looks out across the expanse, that pendulum in hand; if it's providing a direction, well. little point in not following it, right?]

... this way. Be sure to keep an eye out, just in case.

kara immediately tries putting the spirit in the stone, and while it grants him a pretty outlandish sword, it. doesn't give him anything to reach safety.

guess he's going to die now. ]

[cyclists]

[well it's not like he's wrong. the fairy will tilt her head at shirasu before dancing into his palm, giving a polite little curtsy, before disappearing into light and appear again in the form of

a pendulum on a wire.

[She nods, looking over her new snowboard as she stands next to him.]

Right. I don't like this.

[The pessimists at it again!! She's starting to walk in the direction he indicates, though.]
