Isn't that just like asking if the universe itself wants to be corrupted? [...huh.] I think if there's a way to sense it, we'll be able to at least find a way to deal with it before someone corrupted can hurt someone else.
[But there's a huff.] When has anything important ever been easy anyway?
If the universe doesn't want to risk being corrupted, why then was it left up to us to potentially let it grow worse, when you two knew? We could very well have been wrong.
[He's just saying, he doesn't trust the universe to not pull that again.]
There's a better chance that we can find a way to detect it. When it lingered in that girl, we could sense it for days after. The universe has its own plans and that includes bringing people with capabilities Lune and I don't have here, and leaving us to be your guides.
The thing is...darkness itself isn't always bad. It's how you use it. That's why the universe will allow you to choose. [...] This was a bad case and I don't like it, but it doesn't change that you need both to survive. [Light. And darkness.]
Light and darkness, hm? [Again, Hisoka gives Shirasu a glance, though this time, it's more curiously contemplative than anything.] So there's something for us to do, but we have the freedom to do what we choose? What a problem. Everyone is going to do what they want.
[Him included, of course.]
But it doesn't exclude us from consequences, does it? Say--does the darkness transfer? Give us your best guess. If one of us had killed Mary at the trial, what would have happened to all that "darkness"?
[That one's not a bad question, actually-- Shirasu returns that look, then turns a curious glance to Sol, evidently deciding not to distract from that one with any more questions yet.]
And that's why we've been saying you have to figure out how to work together and pick an option. Even if everyone is going to do what they want to do, there can still be one solution. But you're right, it doesn't. [A curious question...]
If one of you had done this instead of Lune, it would've been the same result. The darkness from her would be contained and be purified from her. But that doesn't mean the source is gone.
From the sounds of it, we won't actually want to get rid of the source itself anyway... so I suppose we might not need to worry about the purification being a detriment in the end, if it happens again.
[He considers, looking thoughtful for a few moments there.]
By 'contained', do you mean that purification should separate it from its source? Or might it just have returned where it came from?
Yeah. When you purify something, or someone, you can separate the darkness from their light. [They are not explaining this well.] It means there's a more tangible way to handle it instead of risking really damaging someone else.
[The damage isn't physical, it seems.] The manifestations are breaking away from the source. That's where these disturbances are coming from. If we didn't purify those who were affected, they would continue to be corrupted until they aren't even really themselves anymore. Does...that make sense?
[Finally. A smirk widens Hisoka's mouth from side to side. He peers for a moment at Sol, one hand again resting on his hip.]
B stands for "broker," [His arm lifts, but there's something in his hand, held flush for a moment against his wrist.] but A... [It's definitely a dagger.] stands for... attack.
[He throws the dagger at Sol without any warning, but immediately dashes at Sol behind it.]
[Oh. Well. Okay. There's a dagger flying straight at Sol and in a singular fluid motion, they're up on the fence. There's a slight glint as they vault from the fence, throwing an arm to the side to block the dagger and knock it off its path.
The problem is that Sol also? Doesn't? Stop? And instead in their hands are two shortswords as they jump even higher to come down for an aerial strike.
[Ahh... Perfect. He can feel the pleasing, delicious pressure of bloodlust swirling up from within him. Lune hadn't lied; Sol knows how to move in combat. The swords are more than enough to make him moan, but he'll refrain.
In private, he's more than okay using his element in place of nen, despite how bitter he still is not having his precious Bungee Gum.
The grass of the farmland pulls up and away, linking together at the edge of the blades to form a patchwork blanket of it. It sweeps wildly across the width between them as Sol comes down, not blocking so much as creating a barrier Sol will have to swing through, a distraction.
Hisoka, of course, doesn't stay in place behind it. Instead, he dodges.]
[I fucking hate this, but anyway, thanks for not moaning because Sol would also hate it. Still, the fact that combat is happening is enough that they're hyperfocused on their movements, swords held in front of them as they come down for a strike.
And meet grass.
God. Damnit.
It's a flurry of motions with the swords, one swinging in tandem with the other as they hack away enough. Their gaze is hard to see under the hood as they break the barrier, listening for the sound of where Hisoka's gone. They're not stupid enough to assume that Hisoka's staying in one place. It's also why they abandon the barrier once there's an opening and they zip through. While they don't have magic on hand, speed is making up for that as they dart across the field, a zig-zag sort of movement to constantly be a moving target as they chase him down.]
[The moment he's out of the grass, he sing-songs:] Hi. ♪ [And doesn't stop his escape.
He's pretty fast, surprisingly, helped, speeding across the farmland, by the orchard trees and bending one of the longer branches down to sweep him up by the forearm. He's turned back, facing Sol, and he smiles. The branch slingshots him up into the air.
But another one from a different tree bends backward and releases, trying to smack Sol like a flyswatter. Another distraction. Hisoka drops down on the other side behind Sol. He waits just long enough to give Sol time to recalibrate for him. And then he leaps forward at Sol to get in close.]
Edited (oh i hit submit by accident we’re both messes) 2019-06-10 23:14 (UTC)
[Goodbye clown. The trouble is that Sol's speed is just about as matched, swords behind them as they run even as they briefly lose sight when Hisoka launches himself into the air. They're aware of the trees around them, quickly dodging out of the way in a roll before springing back up onto their feet. As Hisoka leaps forward, Sol rushes ahead, immediately going for a first strike without bothering to wait. A swing to the side quickly followed by a swing overhead and just as quickly throwing their weight to bound back just a step.
Doesn't seem like they're too afraid of the repercussions.]
The form of his body bends. Like with Ookurikara, he drops hastily backward to dodge, his waist and abs keeping him from bowling over when his head swings in the direction of his calves. It’s very close. He can feel the wind of it go by, hear the cut of the blade.
Quickly, he straightens back up. The look on his face is hungry, predatory.] Now I’m getting excited. [His eyes narrow, arms rising to be ready.] It’s a shame I can’t see the look on your face. I bet it’s very good.
You’ll have to show me before you die.
[He throws himself forward again, careful of the swords. But they are weapons. He wants to wiggle in close and cut off Sol’s chance of getting to swing them. Instead of a clown, he’s more like a monk, fists and legs.]
[Man, what is with this guy? There's a highkey chance that Sol's forgotten Shirasu's also there as they continue to try and strike at Hisoka. He bends too far, just out of Sol's reach and when he stands again Sol jumps back. It's hard to pick up a pattern in his fighting style even if Sol's looking for one, swords held tightly in their hands.]
Not a chance! [He doesn't dodge. He doesn't dodge when Hisoka moves, closer to Sol's personal space and avoiding the blades all together. Despite the risk Sol lets Hisoka throw himself forward--
--and quickly drops one of the swords to jab Hisoka in the forehead with their thumb even if it leaves themselves wide open for a hit.
It might feel strange, but suddenly all sense of magic can no longer be felt. Should Hisoka try to use his abilities again, he will find himself unable to.
Recovering the second sword, they realize Hisoka's still too close though and at the last second there's a swipe up to try and block.]
[Now that isn't very nice at all, Sol. If he can't have Bungee Gum, he at least wants Earth. Why would Sol do him dirty this way?
There doesn't even have to be a showcase of powers for him to realize his tether with the magic is gone. The first clown frown in pretty much his whole run here so far makes an appearance. He's still falling into the movements he knows best, fighting, but he definitely doesn't look happy about the interference.]
I hope you plan to give it back. I have a very specific magic trick for you if you don't.
[Hisoka's upper half doesn't fall in when Sol blocks; instead, it tilts back. But his foot comes down on one of Sol's through the robes, and he swings his other leg up. It isn't a kick in the groin; it's a kick against the inner thigh. Worse, Hisoka's legs are probably one of the most powerful things on him. When he does it, he waits for a momentary opening from the surprise.
And then he tries to punch at Sol right in the sternum with all of his strength, lifting his foot so there won't be any anchor.]
[Oh. Look. They made the clown mad. That's something. They don't really have time to respond (or they're choosing not to, most likely,) even if they plan on giving the power back. As it is, Sol blocks and having left themselves wide open finds that the kick to the thigh is really painful! Actually! Wow!
There's something of a yell as their leg buckles, and the punch to the sternum also doesn't help, sending Sol flying up and sailing toward the fence with their swords.
Ow....what in the hell. Landing on their back with a loud thud and a grunt of pain, Sol lays there...for about two seconds before they crawl back to their feet.]
You'll get it back when we finish this. [Swords at the ready, even knowing that's going to absolutely bruise, they're up and immediately zipping back at Hisoka and swinging from the side and from the back, keeping their eyes on Hisoka's hands and legs this time.]
[Despite enjoying the flash of showing off, of pulling tricks, he's not at all an unfair fighter. Sometimes, he likes to be amused, but usually, there's no joy in an unbalanced fight.
So he gives Sol time to get up again without leaping after and bearing down.
In fact, he doesn't go to Sol at all. He stands flat-faced and thin lipped, waiting for Sol to get up again, to come at him again. And he teases by dodging. The circus act may not be faked. He's terribly agile and flexible, and it's not extremely hard to narrowly dodge the swinging swords in whatever weird contortionist fashion he can.
They aren't bad swings; the wind off them speaks enough of how much they'd sting if they hit. But Hisoka is being petty.
And so he just continues to dodge, moving around in a wide circle and forcing Sol to follow him.]
