[it's some time after execution that mikazuki wanders back into his home. he removes his hood and there is a flash of a second where his ever-present smile seems to be missing, like he's thinking about something that's drawing his thoughts quite far away.
though once his gaze falls on tsurumaru, he allows himself a smile.
even if it isn't quite as easy as it normally is.]
I'll lose my chance at claiming your attention soon, won't I?
Oh? Haven't we made it evident that such a thing isn't possible, Tsurumaru?
[though he will just pause in front of him, reaching out to cup tsurumaru's jaw to hold him in place as mikazuki leans forward to press a kiss to his nose.]
[he might be - but honestly mikazuki will just find it cute. he smiles faintly at the kiss before going as directed, heading into his room to have a seat by the window
he'll just remain in thought until tsurumaru comes back, looking over his collection of flowers
though he might start humming a song underneath his breath]
[imagine if every sword got weed tea at some point in a murdergame
regardless mikazuki will take the tea in one hand, reaching up to catch tsurumaru's chin with the other so that he can keep his face in one place so that he can kiss him properly once
but he smiles before sitting down next to him. tsuru is quiet at first, but then he starts humming as well. it's... the same song that mikazuki was, except it's
not quite it? considering he had never heard it before until just this moment so he doesn't actually know how it goes. ]
[ . . . . that's really endearing. it makes mikazuki smile faintly before he puts the tea aside and takes tsurumaru's hands in his own. he picks up the lyrics where tsurumaru pauses - ]
Can you hear it? The sound of flower buds opening. Bloom like this pure flower. Beneath it lays the muddy water. Be pure like this flower.
[and like a cheating cheater who has grown quite fond of his magic - mikazuki will conjure a lotus to rest in tsurumaru's hands]
[ the thing is, tsurumaru doesn't know what to say here.
he can't imagine what mikazuki might be feeling. he can guess, but... he also can't really pretend like his situation is too similar. the problem with dying so very early on, before you can make any real connections to everyone else, is that there's a sort of detachment that forms. tsuru cannot genuinely say that he cares for everyone here. at least, not until they die and he can speak to him over in this realm.
so he can watch everything that happens, witness their hardships and their failures and their tears, and he can have opinions on them. and feel sorry for them, and glad when they succeed, but. he can't see he feels the same kind of emotion that someone who personally talks to and gets to know them might.
so for now he just looks at mikazuki's tea as he speaks, with a smile. ]
Mm - I wonder how it might feel as they do, as if you are always running out of time?
[they'd witnessed it in their masters, the people who wished to leave their marks on history, who wanted to make their one temporary blip in the world really make a difference.
but mikazuki sees it here almost all the more intimately, when people who are not warriors, who do not choose their fates, must face them. when he's tasked with overseeing them, with completing certain responsibilities and refraining interference in others. he smiles gently back at tsurumaru and presses another kiss to his cheek - as if it is simply a gesture to fill up the space.]
Though I suppose... all being are meant to break one day.
If you keep saying that to me you're going to make me paranoid that it'll happen again.
[ it's a funny phrase, after one of them had just broken-- is technically still broken? tsurumaru still hasn't asked what will happen to them if they don't get revived at the end and he's stalling a bit.
but since they reached here, there's a question he can't stall on anymore. ]
[there's a flash of - something. something hard to describe in mikazuki's eyes. an emotion that not even he can really figure out how to place. but it's one that comes up when people try to discern a bit too much about him, who ask questions about his own wellbeing before regarding others. a little like brushing up on unimportant matters -
and then he just settles into a smile, easy and fond as he guides tsurumaru's face to be closer to his, pressing their lips together as if it'll seal any more silly questions away]
I have returned to our temporary home, and you are near - what more could I desire?
[and a pause, thoughtfully as he doesn't pull too far away]
... and I do not intend to allow any further harm to come to you.
[ it's a nice thought. but tsurumaru is aware that even if he leaves after this, there's a good chance that he'll end up broken again if that's what his comrades choose to do. he wonders, for a second, if a potential second death will be better than the first.
but he doesn't dwell on it, and instead just presses closer to him. ]
... mm.
But you know, your job is pretty stressful. I can tell just from talking with Roxas. So if you ever need to rest...
I cannot say that I do much. The young one certainly works much harder than I.
[ - because it's a bit difficult, to be muzzled. mikazuki is the type of person who will always find a way around doing things if he'd like, now that he has his own body and agency to execute such ideas. but the restrictions placed upon him....
he'll move his tea to the side so that he can let his arm slide around tsurumaru's waist, pulling him closer if he's already intent on being close.]
You have my gratitude, for speaking to him as well.
The two of you say the same thing about each other... I like spending time with him. He enjoys the attention.
[ it's not that hard to figure out that roxas is a little lonely and wants to spend more time with everyone. tsuru can understand that, considering how offended he was getting when none of the living were sending him things. ]
[ why the fuck did they have to learn about kisses
it's an odd space to be in, being aware that mikazuki is definitely not sharing his actual feelings on the matter. but also not really being sure how to press him on it, considering he hasn't been entirely truthful of his own. and mikazuki is very good at turning the conversation onto someone else, so tsuru hesitates to ask again. ]
but regardless he does seem content with this, a flower that holds far too much symbolism in his hair, a crane in his arms to kiss and find distraction with. for the time being, at the very least, it looks as if he's very far away from whatever had been plaguing his thoughts earlier.]
He is quite kind - to be able to spare time to look over an old man such as myself.
Naturally I am quite fond of him as well. You have done well looking after the other children here as well.
week 5, post-execution
though once his gaze falls on tsurumaru, he allows himself a smile.
even if it isn't quite as easy as it normally is.]
I'll lose my chance at claiming your attention soon, won't I?
no subject
[ considering how often people want his attention.
whether or not tsuru noticed his expression is up for debate though, because his own doesn't appear different from usual. ]
Welcome back.
no subject
[though he will just pause in front of him, reaching out to cup tsurumaru's jaw to hold him in place as mikazuki leans forward to press a kiss to his nose.]
... thank you.
no subject
Would you like some tea? You've been out for a while.
[ he watched the purification but he won't actually mention that. ]
no subject
but the offer for tea does make him smile]
Oh? If I could bother you for such a thing... I do enjoy your tea.
no subject
[ is he being slightly more doting than usual?
who knows. but he presses a kiss to mikazuki's cheek and then steps away. ]
no subject
he'll just remain in thought until tsurumaru comes back, looking over his collection of flowers
though he might start humming a song underneath his breath]
no subject
but when he returns he'll hand mikazuki the teacup. ]
There you go! It has a nice surprise.
[ the surprise is just that it's a different type of tea he hasn't made yet. weed tea.
no it's not weed tea it's just a different flavor than anything he's made so far. ]
no subject
regardless mikazuki will take the tea in one hand, reaching up to catch tsurumaru's chin with the other so that he can keep his face in one place so that he can kiss him properly once
a quiet thank you
and then pull away to take a sip of his tea]
... mm, that is a pleasant surprise.
no subject
but he smiles before sitting down next to him. tsuru is quiet at first, but then he starts humming as well. it's... the same song that mikazuki was, except it's

[ he reaches over to tuck the flower into mikazuki's hair, and his hand falls down to cup his face. ]
What does this flower mean?
no subject
[mikazuki will allow the flower to fall into his hair though, smiling faintly at the gesture as he leans into tsurumaru's touch]
Purity... Chastity... To be far from the one you love -
The cycles of reincarnation, or to rise above the difficult times you might be born into.
no subject
[ funny, how such a small thing can mean so much.
he doesn't drop his hand, but his gaze does fall down to mikazuki's tea. ]
It sounds persistent.
no subject
[for now, mikazuki's gaze remains on tsurumaru, watching him for a moment]
They often remind me of humanity.

it's a bit different, between when he kisses tsurumaru, and offers affection to any other.]
