Axel's tied to Hisoka, who's proven a good source of information-- and more willing to share, recently. Given his ability, I have plenty of reason to keep him and Axel both around. Xion, I have no reason to kill-- the same with Saix and Namine. I don't mind Namine's partner at all, either.

Beyond the fact that I don't intend to repeat a failure, it seems my partner ought to be kept alive for similar reasons as Hisoka, much as I doubt we'll truly build any trust.

With the gambit of hoping to repair Akane with someone else. [An interesting list, and he pauses as he thinks. Most of those are people he likes well enough. It's agreeable, and it's simple enough to nod along as he lists them off.]

True, and then that wouldn't solve anything. An act of trust is the only way to really establish trust. Whether that's people telling you something they haven't told anyone else, granting you something no one else has access to...taking the fall for someone else...sacrificing for someone else...stuff like that.
I believe I can. If Hisoka didn't expose me this time, even when he came under suspicion, I don't believe that he will... and I don't think I need to worry about that from Akane-chan, either.

I identified him as someone who'd go along with things he found interesting, so we agreed to cover for each others' elements in public-- but as you've seen, it's extended further since then.

But if you really trust him...I can't complain. Maybe you can keep him in line for me where I need him to be.
I trust him roughly as much as I'd trust anyone here. I'll still keep as much of an eye on him as I would anyone else, but he doesn't seem to be giving me false information, nor has he taken the chance to turn on me... apparently, I remind him of someone he knows.

I'll let you know if he becomes more of a risk, but he's said he needs to keep a situation at home from becoming a mess. Despite the way he behaves, I don't believe he's eager to get himself killed-- perhaps he just can't stop himself.

Not so much that Shirasu reminds him of someone, but about the other part.] I'm starting to think that everyone who was brought here has something in their own world that they need or want that's harder to get.
