Death has never been a pretty thing, has it? Though some of you may have seen it coming, many of you have been taken by surprise in the last moments of your life.

Fortunately for you, it's not over yet.

The last thing you may remember is dying, but upon awakening you'll find yourself in what appears to be the meeting hall. Warmed by the ever-present fire, the room is empty and the voting box appears to be missing. In its place are three large panels hanging from the walls that allow the newly dead to peer into the lives of the living.

As you step out into the village, twilight has set in over the sleepy valley casting light and shadows as far as the eye can see. The same buildings appear to be here, all in the same order and with the same amenities. The sakura trees continue to bloom, the kitchen remains well-stocked, and the bell at the shrine echos. Likewise, the river flows through the village and the four elemental regions are found at the edges of the village.

The main difference, however, is the appearance of two additional huts that you don't recognize each bearing an emblem of a sun or a moon.

Make yourself comfortable. You'll be here for a while.

[ you know, it's one thing to know that everyone involved is going to die, and then another thing entirely to watch one of your closest comrades and friends get stabbed in the heart by someone else you're close to. so when this happens, tsurumaru jumps up to his feet from where he was sitting and then

sinks back down to the floor ]

[ Four's been spending most of murderwatch with a mostly placid expression on her face. There's some repression of something or other going on, but that's not that important.

She kneels down beside him. ]

Tsurumaru?

[ She sounds concerned. She won't ask if he's all right. ]

It's not what you expected.

[preowned]

[ the funny thing is that this is actually more or less what he expected after it became apparent they were going to just challenge mikazuki.

but it doesn't make it easier to watch. ]

That's... where his heart is, right?

[ he's definitely not an expert on human anatomy. maybe he's wrong?? ]

[forefall]

... Yes.

[ There's no reason for her to lie about that. ]

I'm sorry. At least he won't suffer long.

[preowned]

[ he takes a breath.

... ]

It's not that unexpected.

[forefall]

[ ... hm. ]

Because of the circumstances or because it's Mikazuki?

[ Last man standing circumstance, she means. ]

... both. I'm sure he probably expected it might go wrong like this.

[ his voice is more even now. ]

[forefall]

[ Which he does he mean? ]

That doesn't make this any less difficult, does it? Will you continue to watch until it ends?

[ Which may be sooner than expected because... meteors. ]

I-- [ oh

he falls quiet for a moment when they start to fall, and then he shakes his head lightly. ]

Of course I will. If I wasn't dead, I would have been out there with them.

[forefall]

[ She glances at him sideways. It's not a surprised look, so much as appraising. ]

Is that sentiment responsibility or affection?

[preowned]

Both, I think. He should only be broken by one of us.

[ lili didn't understand it when he tried to explain to her. ]

It's what our master would expect of us, even if they wouldn't want it to occur.

[forefall]

Broken... I've heard you three say that, and I'm not sure why it's so specific.

[ She doesn't know they're swords? Just say kill? ]

... But I think I understand on some level.

[ After all, if Intoners have to die, it should be by another Intoner. ]

[ he nods

and then mikazuki is grabbing north and running, and all he can do is watch as the meteor hits them both. tsurumaru tenses, sucking in a breath, and then letting it out as they get hit by another again. ]

They did it.

[forefall]

[ She watches him carefully, reaching out a hand to hover over his before retracting it, and turns in time to see the sword fracture and break.

Ah. ]

They did, but it's not over yet.

[ What happens if everyone is taken out by the meteors, including Shess?

Four might actually laugh. ]

[preowned]

... not yet, no.

[ unfortunately for four, tsuru has no qualms with touching, and he leans against her. it's another one of things where if she shoved him off he wouldn't do anything about it but

he's very tired. ]

[forefall]

[ He needs a different color palette to be shoved off. She tenses but stays where she is. ]

We can only hope all this death in such a fashion will get us the ending we want.

[preowned]

It wouldn't be too surprising if things don't go as planned in this situation, would it?

[ he's pretty sure it already has; tsuru doubts that crushing everyone with a meteor was plan a. ]

... he might be showing up here soon then.

[ roxas didn't appear immediately after he died, but he did pop up soon after. ]

IT'S LATE BUT I'M HERE

[it's hard to watch.

she gasps again, covers her mouth to muffle a cry, when ookurikara gets stabbed in the heart. the words that follow afterward from lune incite anger in her, make her want to find a way back there just to tell him he's wrong, but she can't do anything like that. she can only tremble lightly even as the meteors start to illuminate the sky]

I...

It has to end soon....

[she doesn't want to see them continue to make each other suffer like this]

[ it's automatic, the way his hand immediately reaches over to rest on lili's head. he doesn't move it after, and he doesn't actually look at her, instead focusing on what they're seeing. ]
