CYOA - WEEK THREE

WAKE THE GREAT SPIRIT

Without warning, sometime in the middle of the day of your Tuesday, you'll find yourself beckoned to the gateway. The cave that sits at the edge of the city beckons you, drawing you closer and closer until you find yourself entering it. The darkness envelops you and you know nothing but that you must walk one step in front of the other, one step in front of the other, one step -

Until you blink and there is suddenly stone beneath your feet, ruins in front of your eyes.



Thankfully, you aren't alone. There are five others with you as light filters from above, as though you're on the very floor of the ocean. Schools of fish might swim overhead, implying that you may be underwater but you don't feel the heaviness of the pressure at all.

A small cacophony of noises will arise as six floating orbs rest in the distance, flickering with light. There seems to be chatter there, but it'll take some adventuring closer in order to determine exactly what they might be.

Though the longer you wait, you may feel a rumble beneath your feet, like an earthquake.

And then the curious whirring of... mechanical gears?

... In truth, you might not want to linger here that long.



In this CYOA, characters have been set on a path in order to fight the corruption that lingers within the ruins of the lost continent of Mu. They'll be guided along as they get through the plants that have been corrupted along with a few former inhabitants of the gateway that is within. They'll be separated before congregating to face one final challenge together, and then hopefully be unceremoniously dumped back in the mingle after disappearing. They should ICly be gone for approximately six hours beginning on the afternoon of Tuesday.

[You can't make me because he doesn't know what the fuck a touchdown is.]

Don't let go and you won't fall.

[They will, however, make the kind of touchdown that is literally touching down on the ground, after a few repeats of letting the pendulum go, swinging it ahead, and making their way on down. He's not rude enough to just drop and catch them both at the last second.

In all that swinging around, as Emma's holding onto him she might notice there's like. Something coming loose from a pocket of his shirt that looks like folded paper. I'm giving you the option to try and yoink it before it gets lost to this sick air they've been catching or she can just let it go or warn him or whatever.]

Trust me, I wasn’t planning on it.

[She’s looking at the ground as they go so she can tell when to brace herself and step into the grass, but she notices the paper and definitely makes a grab for it, worried that it might fly out of his pocket if she stops to say something. Besides, it’s probably better if he’s focused given what he’s doing, she thinks.]

[wagashis]

[At last: the ground, and there's the open gate. Shirasu lets go of her as they touch down, stepping back.]

That wasn't so bad, was it?

[Kind of fun, actually, I'm so glad Four is going to get something nice out of this. He glances at the paper that's suddenly in her hand, there, head slightly tilted-- and after a moment he holds out a hand for it.]

Ah- may I?

[foodbin]

[She glances down at it for just a moment before nodding and handing it to him, offering a small smile.]

Hopefully it wasn’t anything important. You almost lost it.

[Her voice is clearly curious, even if she doesn’t openly ask what it is.]

[wagashis]

Thank you, Emma. I'll keep a closer eye on it.

[He's just going to tuck that back into a more secure pocket, but he doesn't seem inclined to explain. Shirasu just gestures to the gate, there.]

Shall we? I think it's best if we go together.

[foodbin]

[She nods, then, stepping forward towards the gateway.]

Nice teamwork, by the way.

[wagashis]

Of course.

[I fucking lament that nobody has taught him what a fistbump is... he just gives her a little smile instead and gestures to the board along the way.]

You're very good at, ah, whatever that is.

[foodbin]

Trust me, if I understood anything that just happened, I would explain it.

[But, she holds her hand up for a high five, something Shirasu will definitely understand.]

[wagashis]

[Yeah he just sort of

looks at her hand, uncertain.

does she want it to be held? That's very forward and this is a really inefficient way of asking for that.]

[foodbin]

[She holds it there for another moment, before:]

Are you really just going to leave me hanging? Come on, high five.

[wagashis]

I've never heard of it.

[He assumes he's supposed to do the same thing? So he also holds his hand up.

That's all he does.]

[foodbin]

What, really? [She seems surprised, but when he just holds his hand up—] No, it’s like...

[It’s probably easiest to demonstrate, so she’s giving him a high five.]

[wagashis]

[Oh. He looks surprised, at first-- but then he nods, looking a little pleased. That makes more sense than weird handholding.]

I see. A high five, you called it...?

[Here, let him try it again properly.]

[foodbin]

Yeah, you got it. [Thumbs up!!] It’s like... a mini congratulations, or to show you’re excited.

[wagashis]

[Shirasu also repeats the thumbs up! I don't know how old a gesture it is and at this point I'm afraid to google! Nice.]

I'll have to remember that, then.

[He's learned something new, along with the War Of The Baseball. Which he absolutely still his tucked under his other arm.
