CYOA - WEEK 1
SEEK A WAY OUT...
Without warning, sometime on the evening of the second day of the first week, a large, black mass emerges and swallows you whole. Dragging you through a dark tunnel, you'll soon find yourself in a strangely dark room.
Thankfully, you aren't alone. There are three others with you as the dim lights cast an eerie glow on your surroundings. It's hard to really see what, precisely, is around but as you come into consciousness a radio crackles from above. A distorted voice speaks suddenly, breaking the silence.
Consider this a privilege. You are going to participate in a game…it is a game where you may emerge victorious, but a game where you will put your life on the line.
The purpose of the game is simple. Leave this place alive and with purpose. It is hidden, but there is an exit to be found…seek a way out.
You have three hours. At the end of your time, should you not succeed--
The words cut out. The radio goes silent and the light in the room disappears entirely. An alarm begins to ring out, loud and blaring and echoing through the room.
Hopefully you got a good look at the interior before the lights went out.
The first step will be shining some light on the situation and disabling the alarm.
Best of luck to you.

In this CYOA, characters are tasked with venturing through locked rooms and solving puzzles to seek a way out of the facility they've been trapped in. They will each be faced with a variety of puzzles, clues, and traps that will help or hinder their progress. They will also be dealing with small manifestations of corruption that they will need to clear to proceed. In doing so, characters may earn items or hints toward the game's plot. Real time will pass, so all characters will be missing for a maximum of three hours…if they escape.
Proceed with caution.

Revenge isn't the only purpose of darkness. There's another reason…to save someone. To save someone, you must save yourselves.
Return to where you once came, and find a clear path.
[The tape crackles out, squeaking suddenly as it plays and the tape itself gets tangled in the cassette. The room goes silent.
A strong sense of vertigo hits all four girls, a blinding sense of dizziness disorienting them as they collapse to the ground.
As the sensation passes, they will find one thing.
Nana sees through the eyes of Akane.
Akane sees through the eyes of Four.
Four sees through the eyes of North.
North sees through the eyes of Nana.
Their consciousnesses remain, but they will find that their perspective has changed.
The lights flicker above, brightening the hallway they're in and the room on the other side of the tangled web of darkness blocking their path.
How will you proceed next?]
no subject
Bad.
And the first thing Nana does after that vertigo clears is try to take a step forward, except there is nothing more disorienting than moving your body but your viewpoint not matching it.
She's probably going to run into someone.
... She is absolutely going to run into someone]
-- Wha-- where am I?!
[Holy crap did she shrink or something? Next time just blind her, darkness, she probably would've had said "thank you"]
no subject
Bad.
North is sitting up as soon the glitch in her system allows her to, quickly enough that she nearly topples over again when her line of sight refuses to match up with the movements of her body. Gently careening into full blown panic, she's reaching up with her hands to pat her face — almost as if making sure her head is still attached to her neck.
It only gets worse when Nana bumps into her body.
... Which in turn means that she's seeing herself as ??? she ??? bumps into her own body???? Nani the fuck.]
—Shit!
[Sorry but not sorry to whoever is standing next to them! Because North is 100% scrambling to shove Nana the fuck away. Nana ping pong may or may not be happening, depending on whether she avoids getting shoved by a very distressed roomba or not.]
no subject
Akane also doesn't have good enough coordination to really comprehend her new viewpoint and the thing coming towards her. She doesn't see Nana as coming towards her so she doesn't quite know how to react. She just sees Nana as going towards what looks like her body.
... But she certainly feels Nana getting shoved into her, and completely fails to brace herself and just gets knocked over on impact. Hello again, ground. ]
Ugh!
no subject
Four doesn't even get a chance to get all the way on her feet. When she pushes herself up off the ground and sees from North's perspective, she screams and falls. The disorientation following vertigo is not a good sequence for her.
She hisses, sounding the angriest she's been in this room, and hopes that no one steps on her (someone please step on her) as she slowly rises again. Her head turns this way and that, not that it does her any good to see. ]
We have to fix this. [ Her voice is cold. ] Are we supposed to go through that darkness over there?
no subject
--Maybe keeping her eyes closed is the best bet right now]
Ah-- I -- I don't know?
[NO SMILES TODAY, LADIES. Just hot panic. Nana is grateful for the floor, in fact. It means she can keep still and get a better bearing on what's happened, though each time she opens her eyes--
Yeah, nope. Eyes closed is the way to go]
... We could always crawl there?
[PLEASE NO ONE MAKE HER WALK]
no subject
[SHE HAS TOO MUCH SELF RESPECT FOR THAT.
But, yeah. This is not fun! Between the disorientation and the idea of losing control over her sense of sight, North is not doing well. At least, out of the four of them, she's the only one who didn't fall flat on her butt again...?]
—And stop closing your eyes! [SHE CAN'T SEE SHIT, NANA.]
no subject
Whenever Four's eyes are on Akane, she is carefully... Moving... To stand up... But it's a slow and shaky process, even without the interruptions from Four's sight. Meanwhile her own body is just STARING INTENSELY at Four, uninterrupted. You're welcome. ]
no subject
Just kidding.
She doesn't know who can see out her eyes right this moment, and she's not here to make enemies quite yet. She keeps her own head steady and looking forward. ]
I'm refuse to crawl as well. My apologies if I step or bump into you.
[ Four walks towards the darkness. She may not actually be seeing where she's going, her hands and arms are outstretched so they can bump into things before the rest of her body does, but that's where she's going and her head is facing.
For the record, she's not stopping if she does step into or on someone. ]
no subject
North is apparently out of luck here, since Nana's eyes are closed, but Nana will see through Akane facing Four. She will notice the corruption coiling around Four's feet as she approaches.
And as she approaches, small hands begin to reach for whoever is closest to try and pull them into the dark.]
no subject
Nana would like to calmly raise a concern, first off--]
N-no! Watch out!
[And in her haste to warn Four that maybe she should tread carefully, her eyes instinctively pop right open, allowing North to see the disaster that is them about to be bad touched by the darkness.
-- Nana is also jumping to her feet (apparently she's found her dignity after all!), so North also gets a front row seat of Nana staggering all over, attempting to move her body in position so she can physically drag Four back if necessary]
There's hands -- they'll drag you in!
no subject
Shit.
North's head is snapping around in the direction she heard Nana's voice came from, which proves to be stupidly disorientating as her vision once again fails to match up with her movements. Even though she knows glancing around won't help, the movements of her head will at least allow Four to see what's currently happening in her immediate vicinity. Which is, uh, bad. And North is getting front row seats to Nana stumbling all over the place in an attempt to save Four, the small hands creeping closer while Nana remains oblivious to the danger.]
Stop— You're going to get pulled in yourself!
[Given the lack of, you know, hand-eye coordination. She absolutely Does Not want to find out what'll happen if she loses her seeing eye banana, either, which spurs her to blindly stumble forward in an attempt to yank Nana back.
The girls are fine, clearly.]
no subject
She doesn't need to see herself anymore and can feel things out, but she's not moving with the same urgency as the rest of them. Sorry, good luck. At least from the back, she keeps her eyes straight ahead for whoever is seeing out of them. You may witness. Again: You're welcome. ]
no subject
[ Four's still walking. The problem is even if she hears what they're saying, there's disconnect with her vision. Seeing herself surrounded by coils of darkness and moving toward creepy hands is some next level terror. It makes her stumble on her next step—
Right into the darkness unless Nana can get to her in time. ]
no subject
Akane and North will see the opening to the other main room, however. The room is lit and spacious, furniture poised and doors closed tight. One door is on their right and two are on their left. There's also a bolted door in the back of the room where the little wisps seem to be headed.
So. That's two out of four!]
no subject
... And apparently fine? Nana's body is still functioning, so maybe death came swift and without pain.]
... I'm still here?
[aaaah she can't see anything from her own perspective, time to stumble around again, probably straight into a wall. Classy.]
Everyone, can you still hear me?
no subject
She braces herself for an impact that never comes as Nana walks into the wall, but other than that—]
I can hear you. [Which is, uh, fucking disorientating.] You're in a room with four doors. One to the right, two to the left. The fourth looks like it's bolted shut.
[... Anyway, Akane can do whatever she wants. But North is going to carefully move forward now that she knows the darkness is safe(???) to pass through. Hm.]
no subject
But also she hasn't complained in a while, so she groans loudly. ]
This is nauseating...!
no subject
It's that way for all of us.
[ Say something that's news, Akane? ]
A door, did you say...?
[ Four inches her way to the left. Make her run into anything you want. ]
no subject
A few things happen:
Four can fumble her way along the left side, finding the first of two doors and she will find that the door is locked.
Nana, on the other hand, stumbles to the right and crashes into the wall, also crashing into the door on the right that swings open as it's unlocked.
The room that Nana finds herself in appears to be a small office. Please don't let her trip straight into the desk. There are three mirrors along the wall opposite of the desk, a telephone on said-desk, drawers attached to the desk, and a filing cabinet. There are also two chairs.]
no subject
And then apparently her uncoordinated wanderings have taken her through a door. Convenient! Also frustrating because she has no idea where she's going. Thankfully she knows well enough to stop in the middle of the office instead of clamoring forward, and after a second of quiet thought:]
North-san? ... You can see what I'm seeing, right?
I think you have to guide me through this.
[Yeah, uh. She's gotten the hint.
Time to evoke the power of teamwork and friendship to get the job done]
Akane-chan, you'll have to guide Four-san as well, I assume.
[NO EXCUSES, LADIES.]
no subject
Being shoved back takes her by surprise, though, and she's pretty much stumbling backwards before promptly falling on her ass. Here's to hoping Akane wasn't right behind her, because she may be getting an elbow to the face otherwise.
BITTERLY:] Right.
[Guess the floor is her home now.]
You're in an office. [Descriptive.] There's a desk in front of you. Telephone on top of the desk. Two chairs around it. Three mirrors on the wall opposite to it. A filing cabinet, too.
[A beat.]
Take two steps forward so I can measure your stride.
no subject
She's quiet, waiting for North to finish, and then a moment longer because she figures it may take a little more time to actually follow the instructions. Once she thinks there's been enough pause for that, she speaks up with her own instructions: ]
There are two doors on the left and one on the right. You're already at the first door on the left, but it looks like it's locked, so just move forward and check the second one.
[ That's not super helpful, but Akane figures Four can figure out dragging her hand along the door/wall herself. And Akane has already forgotten about the key Four has, so she's more interested in checking the second door, oops. ]
no subject
All right. Please mention if I'm about to run into anything.
[ She jiggles the knob one more time, as if that will magically unlock it before moving on.
She places her left hand along the wall like it's a maze and starts feeling for the next wall. ]
no subject
As Four's out in the hall, she'll find that the door is still locked but walking toward the second door means she'll have better luck. This door swings open, allowing her to enter a waiting room of sorts. Three magazine racks line the wall, little couches low to the ground (two of them) and a large fish tank on the wall opposite of the door. There are also two fake plants in the corners by the fish tank with trees in them, but other foliage spills from the pots.]
