[Today, Sol can be found seated next to the river by the sakura tree. They're watching little offering lanterns float downstream, but as Val approaches they speak up.]

Was it really so close, you think?

[Val doesn't sit, but he does stand nearby.]

We found the Corrupted very late.

[A short pause.]

Mm, I could die tomorrow too. It's odd not to be in control of my own destiny.

[cyclists]

Are you usually in charge of that sort of thing? [What a funny thought.]

[omegathree]

[He opens his eyes, red and clearly inhuman.]

Yes. I fought a being calling itself "God" and won with comrades by my side.

[There's something a bit wistful about it. He misses them and it's only been two weeks.]

[cyclists]

[That doesn't seem to bother them.]

...why were you fighting it? What did "God" do?

"God" wanted to destroy the Earth and my comrades would rather it didn't.

[cyclists]

Well yeah, I can't think of many people that would be okay with the Earth being destroyed. [A world destroyed sure sounds bad.] So how did it happen?

[omegathree]

How was Earth going to be destroyed, or how did we stop it?

[cyclists]

Why not both?

Mm... The first way it attempted to destroy Earth was to drop the moon on it. We stopped it with the help of an angel made robot. [christ.]

Where I live there's an emergency system called Fear the Great that was created by God to destroy a planet if it contained too much malice. There was a human spirit that was being controlled by that system and then possessed by it. He was blaming demons and angels for not doing enough to stop humans from creating Chaos.

We had to fight it back and force him to see a certain angel. Possessed like that, it took a lot of work.

Most things at home can be put into order with a proper fight.

It would've been nice if this place worked the way I'm used to. [Why can't everything be sorted out with a fight?]

So you had to fight against something that was created by the same thing in order to save the planet. [This is so much.]

If everything here was exactly like what you were all used to, I don't think the universe would have made things the way that they have. What would be the point in bringing you if you could then turn around and leave right away? [They don't wholly agree with the "why" of it all.]

What was the point of bringing us all here to be infected by darkness? [It doesn't sound like he's blaming Sol about it, but he's still going to say it.]

Yes. Everything is in order and the spirit that was possessed is now a prinny, paying off his sins.

That's what I'd like to know, because this wasn't something that was supposed to happen in the first place. We were only supposed to learn to fight it and shape what happens here.

...but it's a good thing the god or whoever is being punished. And he'll be a prinny forever?

The darkness might have adapted in response to us being here. [Who the fuck knows, my dude.]

He'll be a prinny until he's paid off every single on of his sins. Since he was active for about 400 years, it's going to take him at least that long. [Probably longer, really.]

But then that'd imply that the universe knew that would happen and that's why you were brought in the first place. It doesn't make sense.

[But like. Yikes.] Can he cause more problems as a prinny though?

[With the certainly he brings to things:] He won't, because I'm looking after him personally.

No, that one's completely empty. It's more like... a stuffed toy than a proper prinny.

I can't tell if that's better or worse.

I've heard time is stopped in our homes while we're here.

But can you do anything with it?

I can throw it, but it won't explode unless there's a soul inside.

Yes. They're volatile little beings. If you throw one, they should explode.
