I do not often enjoy watching lives extinguish before one is able to acknowledge their own light.

Is it supposed to change how much it hurts? I didn't - again, there's not one person here I could protect. How am I supposed to be proud of that?

... no, I do not think that anything would be able to so easily steal away those feelings. It is the burden of living, and being able to make one's own choices.

Even if lives cannot always be protected - that does not mean that their time spent living was a waste.

Or that it was not enriched by having you with them.

I'm not... trying to say that any of them living was a waste. But I am trying to say it shouldn't have been this way.

[She blinks several times, hesitating.]

I thought - this would all be different, if I tried hard enough. But it wasn't.

It does not change that you have made things different, simply from being here. You have saved others by taking action, and learning what you have.
