mikazuki doesn't follow after him immediately, instead just watching for a moment. a small smile rests on his face as he takes this into consideration too. the sound of the crashing waves. the soft tone of tsurumaru's laugh, tucked away from everyone else. the way that the moonlight catches against him.]
[ he's going to slip off his shoes, and then his socks, before wading a little into the water. he only goes deep enough for the water to be ankle length. ]
[ah.... for once, mikazuki will pick up after tsurumaru. he will collect his shoes and socks in one hand, then extending his other one to tsurumaru so that they can still be connected as they walk along the shore]
he'll go quiet again as they walk, his gaze flickering towards the ocean, to the moon, to what's ahead of them. there's a lot that he wants to say right now, but he settles on saying none of it. for the moment, anyway. ]
because if tsurumaru isn't going to say anything, then neither is mikazuki. there is nothing grand that he wishes to say, for saying anything now will feel like last words.
he does not wish for them to be his last to tsurumaru.]
mikazuki just glances over at that, raising a brow. he's not particularly pleased to hear that tsuru stabbed himself, but at least he seems to be fine now]
[ he repeats it, and now his tone is much happier. tsurumaru doesn't seem that bothered by mikazuki's reaction to the proclamation. ]
When you're filled with this much affection for someone, in a way that you don't feel for other people that you also care deeply for-- it's love.
[ he's not even sure if that's right. his knowledge on the subject comes from a giant mix of things, different mediums and conversations and gut feelings. but whether he's wrong or not on what this emotion is, tsuru believes that when he looks at mikazuki, he sees love. ]
mikazuki's thoughts drift to slightly different topics - he did read romeo and juliet, and consumed another of other romance novels - and thinks more toward the types of affection he'd seen shared between humans. to have different types of kindness, and different kinds of affection, and to settle on love...]
Mm.
Then it is possible that I share your feelings of love.
[he'll admit that - because he's looked at a great number of interactions between people. he believes that the feelings of love could blossom among them, the feelings of desiring family, camaraderie and lasting bonds.... but for himself - is it again where he is pretending? that he is simply a sword adorning himself with a human emotion as if it were a garb?
still, he gently takes his hand in tsurumaru's to pull him closer to him, guiding him back to land before he gets swept out to sea on a whim]
[ he lets himself be pulled, and all he can really notice is that his feet are cold once they're out of the water. it's probably a silly thing to be focused on at a moment like this.
still, his expression is still warm despite that. ]
You borrowed something from me at the very beginning of our time together - and I had thought it amusing. Even so, it felt rather impersonal compared to the gift you bestowed upon me.
[and even as he lifts his other hand up to his own hair, the sleeve falls just enough so that tsurumaru's necklace can glint in the moonlight, still fastened neatly around lune's wrist
but he'll start to remove his own headdress, the ornament fastened and askew atop his head, untying it with a pull]
Perhaps now we can finally have a proper exchange.

Do you enjoy being romantic?
no subject
[well that's not what he expected to be asked]
Is there a reason why you ask?
no subject
Just answer the question.
no subject
[but he supposes there's no way for him to get his curiosity solved but to answer]
I do.

[ despite the fact that they had no idea what they were getting themselves into
a larger wave than the others crashes, getting his pants wet. tsuru just laughs again at that. ]
no subject
Mm, as am I. I've enjoyed being able to make play at humanity with you.

[ he places his free hand over his chest. ]
I stabbed myself right here. I'm sure it was poetic, or something.
But it did make me become more certain of something.

mikazuki just glances over at that, raising a brow. he's not particularly pleased to hear that tsuru stabbed himself, but at least he seems to be fine now]
... and what is that?
no subject
[ it's not said emotionally, but more like it's something he's thought about and came to this conclusion. ]
no subject
Mm...? 'Love'?
[can you believe of
all the emotions that mikazuki has reviewed
he hasn't thought too heavily on that one]

[ he'll just say that first. he wouldn't want mikazuki to just repeat it because he thinks that would be the appropriate response, or something. ]
But I needed to tell you.

it's clear that he wasn't expecting this, with how his eyes widen slightly as he watches mikazuki take off the accessory. ]
It goes with your outfit.
[ it's not what he actually means to say, but it's what comes out of his mouth. ]
no subject
it makes mikazuki laugh faintly even as he holds the ornament between his fingers, bringing it in front of him as it dangles in front of tsurumaru]
Oh?
And what do you think of this one? Does it particularly clash against yours?
no subject
[ he reaches forward to touch it, but instead of taking it, tsuru wraps his hand around mikazuki's. ]
I'll probably have to put it on myself.
[ he doesn't trust jiji to do it ]
