[While Sol sits on that rock, Shirasu sits on... the water, because he's just this way. Someone's been practicing, apparently.]
...I might have a third for that list, by the way. I spoke with Emma yesterday, after we returned. [A pause, there.] I've told her more than I have most, admittedly, and there was yesterday's incident, but-- she says she trusts me.
[His tone does not quite make it a question, but it comes close? It comes really close. Emma why would you say that.]
I like most of the things people give me. It's just that most of the time they're notes. [It's also part of why he hasn't started eating them yet. He's cherishing them for another five minutes. On the other hand, there's a curious sound when Shirasu says that.]
She does? [That's...kind of cool.] ...Emma's a pretty good judge of character from what I've noticed. So I'm glad to hear that. [He also just likes Emma tbh.] What even really happened yesterday anyway? I tried to watch the playback but it got confusing.
[He also seems to be staring at Shirasu now, seemingly checking if he'll stay afloat while sitting on the water.]
According to Hisoka, she was insistent about checking me, but-- if that's so, I can understand clearing someone before saying such a thing.
[Is he still slightly uncertain? Maybe. Is he trying, though? There's an attempt being made.
He leans back, shaping the water a bit to prop himself up. Seems like he's doing fine for now, though he does fish the duck from a pocket and toss it into the water ahead of him, watching it bob in the waves as he speaks.]
I would say I can explain, but I don't know that I know much more than you, considering that I keep being corrected on aspects of it.
[baseball war...]
Emma and I were separated from the others and participated in what I have been assured is football, accompanied by what seemed to be a pair of spirits that turned into items... after that, we all met up again and Namine-chan was able to wake the person we were apparently brought to help.
She's also a very smart lady. [So there's that.] I'm glad though. You could probably both use some more people to trust in this place.
[The duck appears though and Sol laughs quietly, watching it bob on the water and utterly pleased with Shirasu's progress.]
You're getting good at that. Your focus. [He shifts the plate of wagashi so he can lean his elbow on his knee, chin propping his head up as he listens.] That seems to be the case with these things. Nobody really knows what's going on even when they lived through it, but I don't know what football has to do with ghosts. [An assumption? Sure. But hm.] There was a sleeping person? How'd she wake them up?
[The words "brought to help" give him the idea that maybe there's something more to just shaking someone by the shoulders.]
I assume Shess didn't want to kiss someone who seemed to be a teenager. I'd prefer not to do so in general. Emma, I couldn't answer for, and Ookurikara...
[A vague gesture of a hand. Can you picture swordman smooching, Sol.]
I know the feeling...[Jeez. But he's finally going to go ahead and take a bite of one of the wagashi.] So it's true then. Every gateway so far has had some kind of darkness hidden in it that only you guys can clear out.
If it means people will trust each other more, it'll probably happen again.
I've heard life-threatening situations are good for strengthening bonds. [It's. Sort of a joke. But before he can continue Shirasu says that and Sol pauses himself. That's not a question he'd expect, so give him a moment.]
...you trust me? [Given Shirasu's, like, everything, that's a little surprising.]
[Consideration definitely went into this, because no, he never intended to trust Sol with anything. He never intended to speak with Sol as much as he already has.
It's just the way some people are, isn't it?]
With my goals, with what I want-- and I've been trusting you to follow through on that. There are things I've ended up telling you that I wouldn't want to share with any others, here.
...So I suppose that I do, yes. In as much as I can trust anyone here after so short a time.
[Trust is such a weird, fragile thing. It's something Sol's put a lot of thought into, especially here, especially knowing all of these people are bound to betray each other sooner or later even if it's entirely accidental.
And of course knowing people like Shirasu that don't really have a lot of confidence or trust in other people, it's something even harder to really piece together. When he'd given Shirasu his task initially, Sol wasn't counting himself or Lune. But...at the same time they are technically working together.
So...there's a nod.]
I don't know if it really counts by what the universe would think. We're kind of just acting for them, so it's really their final say.
[...Sol gets a faint smile afterwards, though. He'd intended to ask if that was actually mutual, given that he wouldn't at all blame someone who knew his actions for not trusting him...
But a gesture like that says enough, he thinks.]
I knew Lune-san called you young, but it's hard to know what someone claiming to be at least a thousand thinks that is. I suppose that was right, after all.
[Hewwo. There's a very quiet laugh at that though.]
To most people I think I'd be kinda young, but to Lune especially. Truthfully...I've only been alive for almost two years now. [He just hasn't bothered saying that to literally anybody else.]
When I was born...I was born from somebody else's heart. People like me are what's left over when other people lose their hearts. That includes the body and the soul. But we're not really considered whole because we're missing our own hearts.
[...] That's what we were always told, anyway. But that's not true.

But that gets a faint smile from him, there.]
They're sweets. Somewhat plain in flavor, though-- I was unsure what you liked. I thought you might wish to avoid apple.

[That's it, that's all he says in response to that. Does he just want to see how Sol takes that?
Maybe!]
no subject
What. Why would she do that?! [WHO AUTHORIZED THIS?]

Well, and it was either her or Hisoka.

...I'm glad it worked, at least. [No he's still. Baffled.]

Mm, speaking of that, though. About the list. Would...
[There's a pause, there, a long one-- as if he's either considering what he wants to say very hard, or as if he's not sure he wants to say it.
But finally, he seems to decide, and exhales a breath.]
Do you count.
