Maybe something like... whoever lands a certain number of hits wins?

[Oh sure they could just bang swords together until one gets tired but Nana is so used to the revues, and just assumes structures in her duels]

A prize?

[Her mouth quirks with amusement at that]

I don't know if I have anything I can offer.

[Sol you totally just want cookies.

That brings a laugh out of her, followed quickly by a nod]

Okay! I'll make you any kind you like if you win.

[... She'll probably still make him any type of cookie he wants, even if he loses, let's be honest here]

As for me...

[...]

If I win, would it be okay if I kept the swords to carry with me?

[She hadn't known if he'd agree to such terms, and so Nana visibly beams when given the answer. Cheerfully, she'll go approach her weapons for the evening.]

I don't know if I really have a fighting style... those performances I told you about? They granted us a lot of power to finish off our opponents, so initially I relied on that knowledge... hm. So maybe I learned a few tricks from a line of samurai.

But I never forgot my memories or techniques when looping time.

[That's 60 years worth of muscle memory she's built up. Picking up the swords, she gives them both a swing, testing the weight until she's found a comfortable grip]

What about you, Sol-san?

FINALLY I CAN USE THESE ICONS

[Magic, huh... He's mentioned as much before, yet Nana still makes a note to ask more about Sol's world later. For for, however, they've got a spar to start.]

Alright. Three hits goes to the winner.

[Swinging her sword again, with the tip now pointed in Sol's direction. She's smiling again.

... A little maniacally.]

Let's go.

[She's a tall girl, with more than a couple of inches on her friend -- so she finds it interesting that Sol went for such a move.

Not that it means she's going to budge an inch. Nana makes a show of staying her ground, instead, feet digging into the ground while her first sword automatically raises up to block the strike.

It's that second sword Sol will need to keep an eye on. They agreed on three strikes to win but the blades they're using probably aren't dull (great forward thinking, kids), which is all the thought Nana gives that issue before she makes a move to cut at Sol's torso if he doesn't move or block]

[Nana watches him, tries to categorize his style in a way that fits with her experience. She's only ever battled eight other girls during her timeloops, and it's never been more apparent than now, watching Sol zip away before she has a chance to hit him.

But where she lacks his speed, she makes up for in pure aggression. The moment she registers that he's at her back, Nana will wheel around to bring both swords down on him. It's going to get her tagged by his strike, having also forsaken defense, but she is

very bad at losing]

[Hmph, a tie?]

Fine by me!

[She'll agree to settle for that, for now.

It doesn't take much effort to entice Nana into a proper fight. Her swords will clash with Sol's as she searches for an opening, very bluntly ignoring any pain she feels from the blow Sol had delivered seconds before.

And as for defensive tactics? Those are all but ignored for the moment -- if she blocks a blow, that's because Sol's swords are in the way and she can't quite catch him off his feet.

If that's the case, she is more than willing to keep up the onslaught. Technical swordsmanship isn't really Nana's style; she just turns herself into a force of nature and tries to burn down the opponent]

[That's two-to-one.

She doesn't let up.

-- But in the back of her mind, Nana knows that she's going to be losing steam if she can't manage a third strike soon. The revues were always quick affairs when no one expected Nana to give them such a brutal fight. It's to her detriment that Sol knows not to underestimate her at this point, and so she grits her teeth and switches tactics every so slightly, aiming her weapons towards one of his swords with brutal force.

She means to disarm him if she can, even if it leaves her more vulnerable to a counter-strike]

[... What is he doing?

She actually pauses a second.

It means that hit does land when it shouldn't, and Nana gives an unladylike swear upon stumbling back, the sword having caught her shoulder. Damn it.

Can the dead even bleed? She doesn't bother checking. And with no choice but to launch at him again, Nana well and truly throws caution to the wind this time. Her plan still worked, after all. It's her two swords against Sol's, and in rapid succession she swings them, one after another, hoping to wear him down further when he has fewer weapons to defend himself with]

[Well damn so much for that, apparently.

Nana's dwindling energy means she's not ready for that counterattack, and it's her larger sword that gets smacked out of her hand, tossed some distance behind her. The smaller wakizashi isn't meant for hard combat, either; it's all she can do to deflect the attacks leveled at her, with each blow sending her backwards step by step.

... And deep down, she... knows she's lost at this point. There's no reclaiming her momentum when she's so tired, and didn't Junna tell her the future, anyway? Of her losses? There is some poetry in the inevitable. Like a script that can't be changed.

Sol ends up smacking the last sword from her hand, leaving her defenseless, and it's when Nana raises her hands in surrender]

... You win, Sol-san.

... Thank you.

[The fight in her has been tucked away for now, Nana returning to the softer girl she presents. Still, she's going to take the swords with a small smile of gratitude.]

It was a good fight. I'll have to ask you for a rematch sometime.
