[She hadn't known if he'd agree to such terms, and so Nana visibly beams when given the answer. Cheerfully, she'll go approach her weapons for the evening.]
I don't know if I really have a fighting style... those performances I told you about? They granted us a lot of power to finish off our opponents, so initially I relied on that knowledge... hm. So maybe I learned a few tricks from a line of samurai.
But I never forgot my memories or techniques when looping time.
[That's 60 years worth of muscle memory she's built up. Picking up the swords, she gives them both a swing, testing the weight until she's found a comfortable grip]
[He's picking up his own swords, nodding in thought as he listens.] I used to have all kinds of magic, too, but coming here means it's gone now. I trained a lot for about a year before I got really good at it, but I only started with one weapon. Two was easy to switch to.
Right now though...I'm improvising a lot. So this should be kind of interesting.
[That said, he takes his swords and walks back a few paces, readying himself for a fight.] Just let me know when you're ready.
[Magic, huh... He's mentioned as much before, yet Nana still makes a note to ask more about Sol's world later. For for, however, they've got a spar to start.]
Alright. Three hits goes to the winner.
[Swinging her sword again, with the tip now pointed in Sol's direction. She's smiling again.
[That expression doesn't bother him. It doesn't even surprise him, a brief lingering pause before he nods and grips both swords tightly, dashing forward to attempt an overhead strike. Let's see how you fight on the fly, Nana. ]
[She's a tall girl, with more than a couple of inches on her friend -- so she finds it interesting that Sol went for such a move.
Not that it means she's going to budge an inch. Nana makes a show of staying her ground, instead, feet digging into the ground while her first sword automatically raises up to block the strike.
It's that second sword Sol will need to keep an eye on. They agreed on three strikes to win but the blades they're using probably aren't dull (great forward thinking, kids), which is all the thought Nana gives that issue before she makes a move to cut at Sol's torso if he doesn't move or block]
[Even without his magic or his usual weapons, Sol has speed on his side and it's the one thing that saves him from that blow. The first sword is blocked and he bounds back just narrowly missing the second one, rebounding to try and loop behind her for a swipe to the side. He's smaller than she is and he's leaving himself open without thinking of defense busy moving in a way to try and throw her off-guard.]
[Nana watches him, tries to categorize his style in a way that fits with her experience. She's only ever battled eight other girls during her timeloops, and it's never been more apparent than now, watching Sol zip away before she has a chance to hit him.
But where she lacks his speed, she makes up for in pure aggression. The moment she registers that he's at her back, Nana will wheel around to bring both swords down on him. It's going to get her tagged by his strike, having also forsaken defense, but she is
[There's a short-lived victory when Sol's sword strikes, because she swings with both swords and both manage to strike his shoulders. The hilt of his swords block enough that he isn't cut and damaged but he drops down into a roll to get out of the way. He bounces back up to his feet, swords at the ready as he takes off running again to leap in the air and try to get her to fight him back.]
I'm only counting that as one and one, by the way!
It doesn't take much effort to entice Nana into a proper fight. Her swords will clash with Sol's as she searches for an opening, very bluntly ignoring any pain she feels from the blow Sol had delivered seconds before.
And as for defensive tactics? Those are all but ignored for the moment -- if she blocks a blow, that's because Sol's swords are in the way and she can't quite catch him off his feet.
If that's the case, she is more than willing to keep up the onslaught. Technical swordsmanship isn't really Nana's style; she just turns herself into a force of nature and tries to burn down the opponent]
[Since neither of them are holding back, it makes it easier. He doesn't register pain and he doesn't seem to hold still, immediately launching himself back at her to try and swing again. It's hard to get anything in edgewise when they're both like this, but it's a clanging of metal that sounds familiar to him and endless energy to keep going.
Without watching, he swings and forgets to block as one of Nana's swords clips him. There's a disgruntled noise and he bops backwards again, narrowing his eyes. Even if Nana can't see it.]
-- But in the back of her mind, Nana knows that she's going to be losing steam if she can't manage a third strike soon. The revues were always quick affairs when no one expected Nana to give them such a brutal fight. It's to her detriment that Sol knows not to underestimate her at this point, and so she grits her teeth and switches tactics every so slightly, aiming her weapons towards one of his swords with brutal force.
She means to disarm him if she can, even if it leaves her more vulnerable to a counter-strike]
[It wouldn't be so difficult if today wasn't a disaster. If today wasn't so...much...he'd be on his game, ready to fight back and beat her, but instead his moves are a little sloppy and not calculated in the slightest. It's a fight meant to wear him out, meant to keep her on her toes and practice with both of them.
It's why he's back to using speed to his advantage, circling again to try and get another hit. He's nearly there, but the sword catches one of his and flings it out of his hand.]
No! [He's holding out a hand like he's expecting it to be summoned back, using his sword-hand to swipe at Nana again.
It means that hit does land when it shouldn't, and Nana gives an unladylike swear upon stumbling back, the sword having caught her shoulder. Damn it.
Can the dead even bleed? She doesn't bother checking. And with no choice but to launch at him again, Nana well and truly throws caution to the wind this time. Her plan still worked, after all. It's her two swords against Sol's, and in rapid succession she swings them, one after another, hoping to wear him down further when he has fewer weapons to defend himself with]
[Even with only one sword, this time he focuses on blocking to try and get himself out of the way, throwing her swords back and throwing himself down to the ground. He somersaults his way across the field to retrieve his sword, scooping it back up and adjusting the grip before launching himself into battle again. He races ahead, both swords drawn, and tries to same trick Nana did but used against her. Two and two evens the field but he can appreciate her skills.]
Nana's dwindling energy means she's not ready for that counterattack, and it's her larger sword that gets smacked out of her hand, tossed some distance behind her. The smaller wakizashi isn't meant for hard combat, either; it's all she can do to deflect the attacks leveled at her, with each blow sending her backwards step by step.
... And deep down, she... knows she's lost at this point. There's no reclaiming her momentum when she's so tired, and didn't Junna tell her the future, anyway? Of her losses? There is some poetry in the inevitable. Like a script that can't be changed.
Sol ends up smacking the last sword from her hand, leaving her defenseless, and it's when Nana raises her hands in surrender]
[The swords are knocked away and he almost comes to an immediate stop. He holds his own blades at his sides, lowering them before willing them away entirely.
It's a hollow sort of victory, but at the same time it was a fair fight and he can feel the weariness of his muscles from combat and going against a good opponent. He turns to fetch her other sword though, offering it back to her.]
...you fought really well. [She's earned it, he thinks.]
[The fight in her has been tucked away for now, Nana returning to the softer girl she presents. Still, she's going to take the swords with a small smile of gratitude.]
It was a good fight. I'll have to ask you for a rematch sometime.

[Oh sure they could just bang swords together until one gets tired but Nana is so used to the revues, and just assumes structures in her duels]

Does the winner get a prize?

[Her mouth quirks with amusement at that]
I don't know if I have anything I can offer.

That brings a laugh out of her, followed quickly by a nod]
Okay! I'll make you any kind you like if you win.
[... She'll probably still make him any type of cookie he wants, even if he loses, let's be honest here]
As for me...
[...]
If I win, would it be okay if I kept the swords to carry with me?

What's your fighting style anyway?

FINALLY I CAN USE THESE ICONS
Alright. Three hits goes to the winner.
[Swinging her sword again, with the tip now pointed in Sol's direction. She's smiling again.
... A little maniacally.]
Let's go.
oh. My god.

I'd like that. It gives us something to do just in case something else happens here. Plus I like the practice.
