but lune will rise to catch her? despite the fact that he claims to be an old man, he is incredibly agile and manages to catch her pretty easily - though it does end up with her being dipped, just so that she doesn't feel too abrupt a stop that might make her dizzy.
... is the intention.
because what she actually will find is that the contact inspires a memory to play in front of her eyes.
A beautiful young man in white speaks in a similar tone to lune as he recites: "Splendid, splendid." He makes a gesture for another man to direct his attention to him.
"Mikazuki?"
The man in white offers a thumbs up, encouraging him to continue, before answering, "How can I help you, Kogitsunemaru?"
"Is Master aware of your actions?"
"Though it's all to protect history, I force brothers to fight each other and make friends kill each other. Master doesn't need to know about all that. I will do the dirty work without Master's consent," the man in white speaks. In the memory, Lune's emotions curl - though he does not seem to move from his spot. Something swirls in the pit of his stomach - the discomfort of feeling a facade come undone.
"Why would you? And alone too!" Kogitsunemaru turns to him, feeling betrayed and - concerned. The man in white makes a gesture to reclaim his attention - and finally Kogi directs another question to him, as if the man in white is answering on behalf of Mikazuki. "Why don't you talk to Master?"
"It's fine like this."
"Why?"
"I don't want to trouble him with matters like these." The man in white continues, his gaze lifting upward even though his back is to Lune. Something tight curls around his chest as he continues - "My name is Mikazuki Munechika. To me, Master is..."
Lune can't take it anymore, he decides and finally speaks, "Higekiri. Let's stop this."
"If that's what you wish." The man named Higekiri complies easily before finally turning to face him, taking a seat beside where he is. "He's worried about you. He even gave me and my younger brother secret orders to look after you."
... and is that not the ugliest thing? Lune shifts, a smile curling around his mouth that does not feel real - is as beautiful as it always is, but does not contain any such delight. Like a weapon making play at being a person, indeed. He finally stands, gaze looking up and up, resting upon a beautiful crescent moon.
"In the lapse of time, not all of us gets to shine. I am Mikazuki Munechika, I'm a crescent moon at best. However, even the little light of the crescent moon is better than no light at all, don't you think?"
[North will hate everything about this in a hot second. But for now, Lune will find himself experiencing a memory.
The scene is... messy, to say the least. Dodging bullets. Running up the stairs. Slamming the door shut as soon as all three of her teammates have made it up to the rooftop. North is running behind the group, acting as the rearguard while the humans chase after them. She's frazzled, eyes darting back and forth between the locked door and the drops of blue blood staining the floor. Her leader kneels down next to one of her teammates, assessing his injuries while their LEDs spin red.
"I can't move my legs..."
"Okay, don't worry! We're gonna get you back..."
But there's no time for this. North takes a step away from the door, her back to her team as she waits for the humans to burst in any second now. "They're coming, Markus," she breathes, hands hovering over her holster. "We have to jump. Now."
One of her teammates continues to bleed all over the floor, internal wiring exposed for the whole world to see. She moves closer to the rest of the group. Markus, her leader, keeps her back turned to them until the other member of their group begins to speak.
"He won't be able to make the jump..." he whispers, the words rushed and frantic. "If they find him, they'll access his memory... They'll know everything."
North glances back at her injured friend. Watches the thirium drain out of him. Feels desperation choke her. "We can't leave him behind..." she says, pointing out the obvious — right before a solution springs to mind. She doesn't like it. She knows the others won't like it, either. But she turns around to face them, nonetheless. "We have to shoot him."
The reaction is almost immediate.
"That's murder! We can't kill him! He's one of us!"
Exasperation seeps into her entire being. The gal of it is enough to make her want to throttle them. She knows that he's one of them. She knows that this isn't a decision to be taken lightly. But if it's between dying free or being used as a tool against your friends, then the choice should be obvious. She would—
Well.
The memory ends before a decision is made.
And as the two of them are freed from the memory's grasp, North takes the opportunity to move the fuck out of his reach. Bye.]
