... Even with the rope, we would still need to kill the corrupted if the majority of us vote for them. Or am I wrong?
[She wants to be wrong? Thanks.]
Something like the swords Shess and I used on Xion and Swift Wind, respectively. Or the syringe we used on Santa. Something that will remove the corruption while saving its host. If we can't manage that, the number of survivors will slip into the single digits sooner rather than later.
Most likely, yeah. If it's just to bind, you would have to still eliminate the corruption itself.
I don't know where the items come from, or how they get through the gateways and to you guys. We're working on finding things on our end, but it seems like things like that come from the areas of the gateways only a few of you slip into. We haven't figured out a pattern yet.
We know it happens every other week, on Tuesdays... [And that's as far as the pattern goes, probably.] Does the universe not know more about that? Or is this another case of it refusing to answer your questions?
I've been thinking about this for a while...but I think the universe is purposefully blocking us from knowing things like that just so that we can't interfere. It tells us which gateways to open, and where darkness might be, but it doesn't give us insight to much or even let us help. Like in that war a few weeks ago, or on Thursdays.
[... Ah. As always, her expression turns sour when hearing about ~the universe~.]
I wouldn't be surprised. [The universe is an asshole.] I know you and Lune agreed to be its personal errand boys. But are you really sure the universe is as benevolent as you assumed it to be?
No. [Normally he'd argue a little, but...no. Four people are dead and he's pissed.] But it's a little late to go backwards. Lune and I have to see this through, and I'm still not risking doing something wrong and losing my chance.
On the other hand, there's nothing stopping you guys from working together to find a better solution.
[...this is probably one of the nicest things she could have said, so there's a pause as he nods.]
That'd be nice, even if it's just getting rid of the restrictions so we can help you more. Isn't that the whole point? Why appoint us as guides if we can only help in limited ways?
[At least, with Lune having shocked the fucking shit out of her on Monday, she's less surprised to see him pull off his hood. That doesn't stop her from pausing to stare at him, before huffing out a laugh.]
So the hoods really aren't superglued to your heads, huh.
Not anymore, no. But they were at first. [Wait.] I mean they weren't actually superglued or anything, but we couldn't take them off until we spent more time with you guys. Now that we have, and now that you've learned enough about us, we're allowed to do it if we want to. Or that's what it seems like.

And if there is a way to get rid of the restrictions the universe put on you two without ruining your chances, then we'll find it too.

Thanks, North. It means a lot. [Even if it's to benefit them, he doesn't care. He gets it. It means they can work together.]

...I keep mine on most of the time.
