... See, this is why I asked for help. I'm not in the least familiar with these sorts of things.
[ so. this is helpful! too bad it probably won't stop him from continuing to be a household disaster, but... ]
Wouldn't something like silk or velvet seem... a bit much, for cat toys? I suppose wool might also be an option, but that's not necessarily the softest option...
[ he shakes his head a little ruefully; it might've been a good idea to bring them, really. ]
There's two, actually, and I think for whatever reason they're both wandering around right now. [ probably hungry or bored... ] There's a chance that if I head outside right now to take a look one or the other might show up, though.
[ but do we want this thread to be cat(s) run(s) wild through boutique, read all about it? ]
I'm not sure they both know their names yet, but they've seemed to respond when addressed, so... I could give it a shot. I've only called them when it was time for food, before.
[ and i guess that means he's going to politely excuse himself quickly to head to the front of the store, click his tongue a little, and call "Aurel! Lulu!"
nothing happens at first? ... it wasn't as if this was a sure thing, but as he half shrugs and turns to head back into the boutique, two cats come nyooming in. the first is a giant maine coon who followed him back from the cafe. the second is the itty bitty grey tabby that he spent at least two threads having a staring contest with.
of the two, aurel, the larger, seems more sedate, content to twine himself around legs and demand pets. lulu, on the other hand....... seems to be interested in the bottom hem and folds of lune's cloak, hm. hey lune, do you wanna play with the kitty. ]
[this is the best possible thing that could've happened in this pc. lune is just going to laugh faintly before leaning down to pick up aurel in their arms, petting for a moment - before they conjure up a ribbon in their other hand, letting it fall from their palm. the end of it is pinched between slender fingers to play with the cat as well]
Welcome, welcome.

[so it's not like lune will see a reason to stop either?? it'd be funny.
as for the fabrics...]
Hm... I suppose the fastest way would be to determine from your own touch?
[is that really it]

... If I tried that and waited every time to see how long the fabric took to warm up and then cool down after, then we'd be in here forever.
[ lune are you this unhelpful because you really don't know or are you also doing this on purpose ]

[there is a tilt of lune's head at that before they proceed onward, a hand already extended to brush fingers against fabrics]
Normally one can infer - more luxurious fabrics are more likely to retain heat, and are softer to the touch.

lune actually pauses, sounding rather pleased at the idea]
Do you think they would come if you called?
