The universe might have wanted a certain kind of person here, so it took the shape of something familiar. It's hard to say. I've seen a lot of different worlds, too, but nothing this simple. It was a little confusing for us, too.

Yes. Aside from our racial qualities, we inherit a limited number of elemental attributes from our parents, along with our clan's element. Which transcendentals we can use are based on which elemental conditions we meet.

That sounds way more organized and purposeful than how people in my world get their power. But then the elements here probably don't feel too different to you...is the one that you have at least easy for you to use?

[They think about this...] Where we're from, it kind of happens like an inheritance, too. Powers are passed down to us, but we can learn other skills and abilities. Most of the time, all it really takes is a connection. And even if you want it, it has to choose you instead of being the other way around.
For a long time, we thought some forms of power were really rare. But as time went on we learned there were more people capable o possessing that ability. Most of us who have that power can also use all kinds of elemental magic, too.

All the more reason we need people to act as focal points and keep people on track. You happen to be one of those people. [There's a pause.] There are two of you I think I can trust with that. As long as you focus and work from the background, it'll start to sink in and direct everyone else.
