me, writing love letters to all of minato's cr for the past few days and then staring at kara's bc i think minato was just scared of him HAHA

it didn't start off as fear, though... minato's first impression of kara was that he was very serious and taciturn, which is the sort of personality that he has trouble getting along with because he needs some sort of give and take in terms of interactions, or somebody who will chatter on and not care if minato defaults to just listening and chiming in when necessary, so he looks at kara and goes "hm" because he can't deal with quiet, unresponsive people. kara just walked away during their first conversation and minato was just "oh.fair." but kara just continued being frustrating!! after tsuru and mary died, minato went to kara thinking that he has to be upset, but kara just told him he doesn't need help and minato was at such a loss for what to do haha so he tried pushing for more interaction on his end by asking him for help burning the papers for tsuru BUT HE'S JUST SO UNRESPONSIVE MINATO DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO

sometimes i think about what could have happened if minato had asked kara to teach him how to cook instead of shirasu... he was going to ask kara, especially when shess gave him a nod of confidence that if minato just asks plainly and nicely, shess thought kara would be amenable to teaching him— and minato would have been fine learning from him bc he can take directions well and everything would have been edible so long as kara forced him to follow the recipe exactly. shess wanted them to be friends and minato has enough persistence to try to whittle kara down, but instead, i thought minato learning from shirasu was funny so it was shirasu...............

trash bread was also funny to me... honestly, minato just thought that if he throws out the dough on the surface, the inside dough is perfectly fine since it didn't touch any of the trash can so he should be able to use it, he didn't think kara would make such a big deal about it. most of that thread was just minato being a brat and having a good time, i'm sorry kara and shess had to suffer while minato was just playing around— both kara and shess just sort of went along with the silent treatment too, but if kara had taken his sword out and forced him to speak earlier in the thread, minato probably would have caved haha... but instead, he proceeded to avoid contact with Kara at all costs for the next five weeks and had to sneak into the kitchen when he wanted food and eventually just gave up on eating even in the graveyard when he just had bread shipped over. he wasn't really scared of kara as a person, as much as kara remained an enigma to him to the very end, and his opinion of him was still that he was serious and would follow through with his word and minato would absolutely lose a hand— but he was scared of what everybody else would say, knowing that he lost a hand for such a stupid reason, when he really had no inventive to want to bake the trash bread and feed it to someone other than the fact that he can do it so he did it. also being without a hand is an inconvenience.

i wish they'd gotten to know each other better but minato just walked away from every interaction nodding to himself that kara hates him, and his usual tactic of bad jokes are ineffective so he doesn't know how to be friends any normal way haha;;
