Val was very interesting because while Roxas admired his confidence and the readiness to help in trials, etc, sometimes he was never quite sure what to make of him! Sometimes it felt like Val was very set in his ways, and that was fine, Roxas had no problem with that. Sometimes people have habits that are hard to break. Other times he was never quite sure what Val's motivations really were. He never thought they were bad motivations or that he'd purposefully hurt anybody, but there were some choices that were made that he couldn't help but wonder "what???" (Hunking himself comes to mind.) Their conversations were always the kind that made him think, but sometimes they also left him curious about what the week would bring and how Val would handle the challenges ahead.

He's grateful for the fact that Val treated Naminé kindly because she deserves all of the nice things in the world, and also that he was a comrade of Axel's. His friends mean the world to him, so people who are important to his friends get an automatic bonus stat. He thinks that things wouldn't have been the same without someone like Val, so even if they didn't always see eye to eye he's happy to have gotten to know him and have his presence around.
