tsuru has a very special place of affection for her for a lot of reasons?? the first one is that... basically everyone who died the very early weeks he became protective of even if he didn't talk to them that often?? because he understood that they probably made the least impression on people so people might not be that upsetti when they go.... and they'd probably feel the most like, useless? at dying? because they didn't really get to help as much as others. so he wanted to try to help make their experience in the gy a nice one to try to make up for the memories they didn't make
(is this projecting? no one can prove anything it's fine)
but futaba in particular stood out to him for a few reasons!! the first is that she obviously just... wanted people to be friends with her and pay attention to her but she wasn't really receiving things from the living?? and tsuru was devastated when he didn't get shit and he had to bully people to pay attention to him, but it wasn't working as well for futaba so tsuru was just "well guess this human child is mine now" and that is one reason why he just played with her all the time and had fun
the other reason is just flat out he liked spending time with her. futaba was such a gremlin and she showed him soooo many cool and interesting things!!! he was so excited every time she taught him something new. he looked forward to hanging out with her and learning and making jokes and it's stupid how being introduced to instant ramen could be such a magical experience but she made it become one!!!
he's going to miss her and he hopes that he lives because he is pretty sure she's gonna try to?? message him?? and he'd be sad if he ends up being the one who doesn't respond to her even though it wouldn't be his fault.... but it's not like she'd know that so weeps
