he did not have much of an opinion on her for the majority of the game until her trial?? tsuru is needy and loves attention and this is why he would make a terrible npc because he would not be able to hide whatsoever who his favorites are. but if you don't pay attention to him then he wouldn't really... pay you much mind outside of the obvious big moments that would happen in trial and stuff?? but then her trial happened, and it turned out that she killed lili?? and lili was one of the people tsuru actually genuinely liked and... he didn't dislike her or anything from that, since lol corruption, but it caught his attention and then she had her huge breakdown after the vote and tsuru was just :o

and then she showed up and he got to properly talk to her. and it was obvious that she was very bitter about what happened?? she didn't hide it. and the thing with tsuru in the gy is that he wanted to try to get to know as many people as he could there, since he didn't get the chance to while he was alive, and it got various results that were mostly failures since at that point everyone was so set in their cr circles that he couldn't really squeeze his way in easily. but four seemed lonely and angry and he pointed at her and was like "i will be her friend"

so he decided to try!! he went and did manicures with her and after talking to her decided that he enjoyed it, and that she was cute and he also thought she was funny?? she was easy to tease but at the same time he could sense that she would not hesitate to strangle him if he teased too much and he...... unfortunately liked that it's bad. but what kind of really stuck out to him was the hesitance to let him get close?? like i said in a tag, tsuru is a very physical person in that he'll grab people and hold their hands or lean on them and stuff!! he's even used to doing it to people who don't want it (kara) but with four it was like... it was sad and he wasn't really sure why, and while he didn't really expect to learn about her issues or anything he just. wanted to make things a little better?? basically he would have been happy if she didn't leave this place feeling as bitter as she did about anything

and then they did the task together and hoo boy. he didn't realize right away that she was just letting him do that on his own and when he did he was just. confused? since again he didn't know what her issues were, and she was yelling about betrayal to him while corrupted her was yelling about her things and tsuru was just "ok i can't listen to both of you yell at me at once so i'm going to just ignore the evil you and pay attention to the slightly less evil you" and he decided to just. try to figure out what was wrong even if it meant he had to let himself get beat up in the process. and the thing with swords is that they tend to be very loyal. they are super dedicated to their mission and the idea of betrayal is... a thing. it's weird. sword will stab other swords if it's for the sake of the mission, so if kara or jiji took him out, tsuru wouldn't think of it as a betrayal etc etc. BUT like.... i wouldn't say tsuru is less loyal than someone like kara? but he's loyal in a different way, because tsuru has passed through a lot of hands and the reason for it is LAUGHS DEPRESSING so he isn't as like.... sentimental about his past masters? he flat out says he doesn't remember them that well?? so like... while i wouldn't say he's the type to betray you, he also isn't really the type to be super loyal to anyone in particular. he knows that you won't be with the same person forever, for the most part

but then here was four, asking him if he was going to betray her and if he would stay with her and continue to like her no matter what she did and he. said that he'll like her no matter what, which wasn't a lie? his threshold for what's bad vs good isn't the same as a human which is why he was ok with people like hisoka or akane because honestly unless you do something personally against him or is an actual enemy of his, he wouldn't really care too much depending. but she was very desperate and he decided in that moment that if he's going to be loyal to anyone, it'll be to four

so yea now she has a dumb genki who is going to follow her around as long as he can because he wants to see her smile and make her happy and also for her to yeet him again. i'm sorry.
