After all, it is difficult for one to compromise their ideals to begin with.

And when one chooses to wield a sword - they are constantly forced to consider what those ideals are. Often, the most just of reasons is that they have some things, or someones, that they wish to protect.

Given that Shirasu's legs were unbroken by the time that he was found, could it truly be said that Ookurikara was wrong to assume the worst?

Of course - such is merely an old man's opinion.
